OMG, I can't believe it....

Recommended Posts

I can cross my legs, but I used to be able to not only cross them but twine the foot of the top leg round the back of my calf. Always gave me pins and needles but it is an elegant way to sit.

Now as for crossing my legs in a plane seat or in a stadium, I will never be able to do that. They're way too long, I have to sit either on one buttock with my legs to the side or like a bloke with my legs apart in those tiny seats, they're designed for short people. Oh well, probably just have to fly first class instead, I wish.

Congratulations, Margo!! :)

Jachut, I used to say the same thing. I'm so tall I never thought I'd be able to fit comfortably in an airplane seat no matter how much weight I lost. But this past summer I was amazed to discover that with weight loss my butt had shrunk, giving me much more room in the seat front to back. I was able to cross my legs with ease!! What a great flight it was, between that and not needing a seatbelt extender. :)

OOOOOH - then I will look forward to that Alexandra. Now if you can figure a way for me to fit my legs under our antique dining table, I'll be really pleased. It's so low to the ground.

Crossing your legs could cut off or decrease your circulation causing a blood clot. This is what they told us in nursing school.

What nursing school did you go to? I never heard that, nor do I think there is anything to back it up, although no one should sit for any great time in any position and not move around, especially on a long plane trip or car trip. You are in no more danger crossing your legs then sitting flat footed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
