I was banded on 01-20-2011. I was told I had to be on Clear Liquids for two weeks; it was the most horrible thing I ever had to do. My physician told me after 1 week to start blended foods. I started doing this about 4 days ago. I am still wanting to eat normal foods. It seems everything I see is foods I want to eat. I sometimes feel so desperate I want to blend foods I would not normally eat just to be able to eat something different. I know this is not normal for me however, this makes me feel as if I'm off to a bad start.. I was told I had to continue one blended foods for another week. How do I know when my body is ready for different food, more solid food?

I think we all WANT to eat real food, and soon enough we will get to. =)

Stay focused. It won't last forever.

Think positive!

Those first 2 weeks are the hardest...but keep your eye on the prize and remember why you got the band in the first place...

I remember when i was 2 weeks out I was crying and wondering why I did this to myself...but now I am so happy that I decided to get my band...

It is still a battle to eat right and stay on the path but it gets easier every day.

I will be doing a 5 day pouch test starting tomorrow and that is basically starting all over again with liquids, them soft mushies, then food.

I hope to rid my body of the carb demon and jump start my weight loss...

Good luck to you...You can do this...

Well for me I had 7 days of liquids, 10 days of pureed, 10 days of soft, then real food. But every doctor is different, you wanna make sure the swelling is down by the time you get to real food.< /p>

Just hang in there, the first month is hard, but then it gets much easier :)

So blend it...although you'll probably find it wasn't as good 'blended'.

Seriously, when I had my band put in, I was given this book with 'recipes' and one was for a cheeseburger. Take one cheeseburger and remove top bun. Tear it up and put in blender with about 1 cup beef broth. Blend. <shudder>

You're not off to a bad start. It's normal to want what we can't have and remember you're just at the beginning of the process. It's going to take time to change old habits. Hang in there.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
