Too Tight or just a bad bad bander??????

Recommended Posts

I must admit I have not been following banding rules regs very well for the last month. I went on a cruise and know I did not eat like I should. I didn't particularly overeat, just not always the right portions of Protein etc.

I have been home for 2 weeks and am finding it hard to get back to pre-vacation eating habits. Any advice or a good kick in the pants will do.

I do think I am too tight but would like some advice. I am finding it difficult to eat many solids without sliming and getting stuck. I am at 5.5 in a 10cc band. I am sliming at least once a day and at times vomit. I can eat chili, Soups, smoothies etc without trouble. meat and bread is a huge culprit along with fries and potatoes except mashed.

Perhaps this is normal or I am too tight. I don't know. I do chew well but sometimes I end up swallowing prematurely.

Can you help me please?

I'd say you're too tight..and not eating as you should. Maybe go in for a small unfill and talk to your nutritionist to get you back on track.

I'm at 5.5, I can get anything down.. hmm. Can you not eat like steak and bread? Cause you aren't supposed to really eat that anyways. I'd be worried if you can't get down small bites of chicken and veggies down, a regular bander meal.

I'd talk to your doctor and tell him what's up.

I was never told not to eat steak or bread. Beef does have more fat than chicken and bread is high in carbs; but that's does'nt mean you can't eat them ever. I would say it's more of a case of eating small amounts or rarely. I personally very rarely eat bread; and I don't keep crackers or Cookies in the house becuase they are triggers for me.

I do think you are over filled. Only being able to eat slidders is not good emotionally or physically.

Thanks all. I am going to start over tomorrow and go back to Protein, eat slow and chew well.

If this doesn't do the trick I may need to have some fill removed. Just seems like 5.5 isn't very much for as often as I am getting stuck.

meat ( like steak ) and bread are on the list of foods that give many bandsters trouble. It is a very fine line between your sweet spot and being too tight. Some of it is also a personal choice. In my book you are at what I consider my sweet spot. If I can eat chili I'm good. Steak and bread have been trouble for me even before I started getting fills. I'm at 5.3cc and have been for a very long time. If you don't feel good about how limited your food choices are, go get a tiny bit of Fluid removed. The only bad thing about that would be you may do the yo-yo fill thing by needing another fill because you get too hungry between meals.

I have the same problem you do...I was overfilled back in Dec and had some fill taken out but these past 2 weeks I notice that I tend to get stuck and slime and vomit every evening...

I can not eat chicken, beef, bread, rice with out getting ill.

I have adopted the use of baby utenils to help me take small amounts and to chew well.

I dont think I am over filled in fact I feel I need a fill because I can eat a lot with the execption of getting stuck and vomiting every so often...

It doesn't agree with some people. If it was making her sick, I would suggest trying something else is what I meant.

My .02...your band may not be overfilled. You may just be swollen from all the sliming and stuck episodes. Instead of getting an unfill and losing ground (if your band was fine before you went on the cruise), try being kind to your band for a week or so. Go back to mushies and soft foods and monitor your caloric intake since it's very easy to pack in excess calories. Eat 3 meals or 6 smaller meals and stay within your calorie target range. Make your food good choices. In other words, don't just eat mashed potatoes because they're mushie. Get your Protein in. Drink lots of liquids.

You may find within days that your band doesn't feel tight anymore. If so, it's because the swelling is going down.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
