Otay..I wrote this last night on another thread but I figured I'll make a new one for it.. I'm just copying and pasting from last night... here we gooooooooooo

Otay I can't sleep.. so I'll tell you guys about my day..got here around 10:50...I was supposed to be here at 10:30..but I'm always kinda late..lol I can literally get here in like 12 minutes I guess I push that "time to leave" envelope sometimes.. Besides, when is a hospital ever on time.. NEVER! Got here, signed in waited, preregistered, etc. There was a girl who came in after me that was at my info session and in the same class day as me so we chatted a bit. It was nice to see a familiar face! I got called back about 11:20 or so...met my nurse...she was VERY VERY nice... she explained a bunch of stuff..asked a bunch of questions, etc. I had to get completely undressed and had a gown and slipper things to put on..when she came back in..then a medical student came in to ask me a bunch of questions too.. he was really cool...then the nurse came back in and they both asked a TOOOOOOOOOOON of questions...then I got in the bed and she gave me a heparin shot for the blood thinning...and then she did my IV..which wasn't bad at all...and I hate needles...I asked about getting a beer in the IV but no go..LOL then they turned on the tv for me and left the room... I got to watch All My Kids(Children) so that was cool!!! Then dude Tyrone.. that name is hilarious! came in to take me to the operating room...oh yah.. during the time I was waiting.. some took my bp, I talked to the anesthesiologist, talked to my Dr..surgeon.. etc...he had already done 3 surgeries so he had 5 more to go...he was really nice and in good spirits... oh yah, whenever they asked me what I was having done.. cuz they ask you a MILLION times... I told each one full body liposuction  they all got a kick outta that.... I got wheeled into the surgery room.. then I got a little nervous.. everyone introduced themselves... and they got me all ready to scoot over on the surgery bed/table.. then the undid the back on my gown and they all checked out my tattoo...lol they put some warm blankets on me.. told me that I'd be taken good care of... I told them I just wanna wake up cuz I have 2 kids at home and they assured me that of course I was gonna wake up!:D they then put on a mask over my face to help me to relax..or is that what puts you to sleep? then...I woke up in recovery... not sure how long I was in recovery...don't really remember what even went on there.. they brought me up to my room.. got me in my bed and got me all situated.. it was prolly around 4:45 at that time.. they gave me some morphine..met my nurse.. she told me to call her when I had to go potty.. and then I've just been hanging out the rest of the day... seriously it's been a really good experience..everyone is nice here! I have a nice big room with an awesome view on the 10th floor.. I can't wait to drink some damn Water though. I call the nurse when i need more morphine...cuz she's my pusher... and it's actually really nice just to be relaxing...honestly the only bad thing is the gas pain..that's the worst part..everything else is no big deal at all... So I guess that's my story.. if I missed anything or left anything out.. just ask...:D Who's next??!! lol

Thanks so much for posting...I loved all the detail. It has def helped me ease the anxiety. Keep me posted on the pain. That's my biggest concern since I really shouldn't take narcotic pain killers. I am very nervous about that part.:( :(

So glad all went well for you...

keep in touch!

You're welcome! You know what hon.. you should see if you can find out who the anestisiologist...hoever you spell that.. is the day you are going to have surgery and then make an appt or call them to talk to them about your history..or talk to you surgeon and he and the anestitiologist... can make a plan together...that's what I would do! If you are that concerned, you are not doing yourself any favors by not speaking up! So you really need to speak up in this instance hon! Know what I mean?? Call them tomorrow!:)

I came home Saturday night.. OMG they didn't even discharge me till LATE!! I got in my car at 8:44PM!!!!! That's kinda insane..but whatever I home by 9. I only had to be on the clear diet for 1-2 days..that's it.. after that you can resume the pre-op diet.. I haven't been all that hungry really. I was the first 2 days..but not really anymore. These staples where the port area is is really sore.. it's kinda crazy seeing staples in your stomach! Today I did eat a small piece of chicken..I know I'm not supposed to but..ya know.. I chewed it over and over and over again.. I love meat! but it went down okay. A girl I met at the info session.. we've been keeping in touch.. she had her post op appt today and they told her she can start eating stuff like yogurt, cottage cheese :puke: GROSS  , tuna, etc.. so I'm not sure if that's considered the "mushies' stage or soft foods.. I asked her "like soft foods" and she said ya... so I guess I'll find out for sure on Monday when I go for my post op.

Hey-You are totally right! So far I have spoken about about my situation to all the Dr's and nurses I have met. They told me to discuss it with them once I get into pre-op. I have spoken to a few people in "the program" B) who said it's ok to receive the pain meds as long as they are being used for the appropriate reason. My plan is to only be on them in the hospital and then I was told I could get a pretty decent non-narcotic pain killer once I go home. But from reading many of the surgery posts it sounds like I may be able to get away with just plain advil or tylonal. I think I am feeling pretty good about the plan...

Thanks for your nudge...it's always good to know whe people have your back!!!:) :)

So glad you are feeling ok. Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!!!

Peace~

Ally

PS Loved the pucking emoticon...where did you find that...hilarious!

GOOD!! I'm glad it's gonna work out for ya!! That's awesome! Yah girl you can just get some Children's Tylenol...I like the grape flavored..lol or if your doc allows you to swallow pills after surgery..then take the pills.. you really won't need anything stronger than that!

As for the puker dude...:puke: his name is Ralph... LOL Just click on more emotions or full editor..he's toward the bottom..called "puke" lol he's always been one of my favorites!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
