classic55 0 Posted January 29, 2011 I was banded on Thursday and havent even been able to drink Water well, each tiny sip causes serious pain as it passes throught the band. I cant get the gas pain to go away and am completely miserable. I need help, what can I do? Walk, walk, walk! They put a lot of air in your abdomen to do the surgery and it takes several days to go away. I called it the bloat! But it will go away. When you're laying down-try lying on your left side and pull your knees as close to your chest as you can get them. Hang in there- it gets better. The worst thing you could do is just lay around- move around because it helps start to move the air out.
Jess55 97 Posted January 29, 2011 If drinking causes you pain you need to go to your doctor now before you get dehydrated. You should not have pain when drinking
CheckYes 46 Posted January 29, 2011 I'm wondering if your surgeon put Fluid in the band at time of surgery. If so, call and have it taken out. You shouldn't have to struggle to take small sips.
Metime 2 Posted January 29, 2011 Little sips. Try to get 1 tablespoon down an hour. Call your doc. I was also "snug" after surgery and it was tough. Warm (not hot) chicken broth helped as well.
Humming Bird 275 Posted January 29, 2011 I was told only ice cold Clear Liquids the first 5-7 days and keep an ice pack high and left as much as you can. Ice helps swelling go down, not heat. I call in to the surgeon wouldn't be a bad idea, just so you can have a conversation with him/her and the situation can be evaluated by them.
