my daughter had lap band surgery on Dec 9 2010 she stayed overnight at the hospital and came home. The home health nurse found a high heart rate and on Dec 11, the band was totally removed. The medical pictures show an image of...everwhere the band lay had a severe infection...like a caustic burn. The surgeon has never seen anything like this before and neither has any of her collegues.. My daughter was in the hospital until Jan 19, 1011. She still has issures but is home. She was not nicked or anything during the surgery...the band did burn her. She had a foley for a month and sitll has drains in her. It is not an allergic reaction and not rejections...if anyone has any info please email me at mila-long@hotmail.com. Thank you.

So sorry to hear about your daughter, I've never heard anything like this. I pray that she regains her health and is feeling better. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter.

I urge you to get a copy of the operative report and find out the serial number of the band and contact the maker of the band as well as your state health board and/or the FDA. You might need an attorney if it is found that the band was defective in any way or not sterile (there is a sterility date on them to use by).
