January 2011 Bandsters - Where are you?

Recommended Posts

How are the January 2011 Bandsters doing?!

I am half way to goal. Just got a fill and have started experiencing left shoulder pain :( It eases up when i walk and stretch....so i guess it is a good incentive to walk and stretch. Hit a plateau the last two months but hopefully this last fill will help. Already can tell my amount of food has cut back. :)

How is everyone else doing?

Wow thats great!!! I also am half way to goal. I go for my 6th fill on October 19th. How many fills have you had?

I haven't had a fill since about May but I'm pretty much at my sweet spot. Overall I've done well but I do have times, particularily during high stress or high hormones (ie pms) where I have some trouble keeping on track. I am really loving my new level of fitness so much. I make the gym a regular part of my life and I'm sure it's been instrumental in my success. I absolutely love the group classes. I'm thinking of getting one of those heart monitors...there's a lady at my gym that has one and it can tell you how many calories you burned during your workout. I would love that. :)

Anyway, I'm about 25 lb to goal. I'll see when I get there if that is my final goal or not...I just picked it kind of randomly. Good luck everyone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
