I have a new date!

Recommended Posts

Well, I am officially over being sick and was able to schedule my surgery again today. I'm still annoyed that I couldn't have it on January 9th. :D But I have my choice of February 2nd in an out-of-network hospital that Dr. Quebbemann operates at every week, or February 6th in an in-network hospital that he operates at once a month. I'm leaning towards February 6th in-network, even though it'd be better for me to have it on Feb 2 due to my work schedule (Valentine's Day and the weekend before are extremely busy for me and I need to be in top shape for those dates). I am very mildly concerned that the staff and after-care at a hospital which only sees the doctor once a month won't be as good. Any thoughts about the matter are appreciated!

So it'll be back to my pre-op liquid diet on either January 19th or 23rd -- this time I'm going to pump up the Vitamins so I don't get sick again!

Can't wait to join the official list of bandsters!

I would suggest the in-network hospital. The frequency of the doctor's surgeries shouldn't have anything to do with the staff. As far as paying for it, the in-network facility will get more from the insurance company and reduce your part.

I hear ya when you talk about having to re-schedule. I was on the schedule on Nov 10 and then my Mom passed away that day after a huge stroke two days before. Now I am on for Jan 19. I have great faith in my doc but am concerned about some of the posts I have read on the boards here. Like some floks with almost no weight lost in a YEAR!!! :eek I have hopes set higher than that. I want to lose at least 100 lbs and I will die of old age at that rate.

I started the pre-op diet today. Last time I lost 13 lbs but found all of them again. I think they were lurking in the fridge waiting to find me again.

Best of luck in Feb whereever you decide to go.

I'm having to reschedule as well ladies so..Welcome Aboard! lol! I as well am hating the wait but I'm sure it will be here soon. For sure I'm not questioning doing this so that's a good thing. My sister-in-law says I'm crazy that I'm looking forward to a surgery but I am looking at it as a new beginning!

I as well have hopes and goals to lose at least 100lbs. I know "if it is to be it is up to me" which means that to reach that goal in a timely fashion I'm going to have to work at it which means getting my butt busy! lol!

Take care everyone and happy 2006!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
