Surgery Date 12/05/2011?

Recommended Posts

My initial appt with this Dr. was in October. I have did everything that I was suppose to do concerning getting ready for the procedure. My insurance finally approved the procedures two weeks ago, when I got a call from the scheduling department at the Dr.'s Office, she told me her next available surgery date is December 5, 2011. Have anyone ever heard of this. I told her that I could lose weight on my own if I had to wait nearly a year for the surgery...Anyone have any suggestions, please help...

I agree with the other poster...change doctors. Besides, I doubt your approval from your insurance company will still be valid at that time. Mine was only for 6 weeks and then had to be re-approved. Something sounds fishy....

Run as fast as you can to another doctor!!! No reputable doctor would let you do all the preparation and get insurance approval and then wait one year!! No good doctor would want you to lose motivation and get depressed with a long wait. If that doctor is too busy to operate, they should never have taken on a new patient. What will happen if you have a question or a problem after surgery? Are they going to make you wait for help? This indicates to me that your doctor is running a lap band factory and does not care about the patient. Also, insurance approvals usually expire after a certain period of time. Your situation could change in a year. So you would have to go through the approval process all over again. Get copies of all your paperwork and run, don't walk to another doctor. Be prepared to pay a fee for your records, but your new doctor will be able to approve you much faster with all the current records. PLEASE let us all know what you decided to do.

wow, unless he's the only doctor within a 300 mile radius, switched doctors.

i'm sure now that you're approved with your insurance company, it can't be that difficult to switch. maybe go through a few loops with another doctor. good luck to you

Hi everyone, this is my first time ever posting, but I am finally hpylori free, and ready to get banded. My date is officially the 27 of this month, and I am very excited. For those of you who have gone through the hpylori episode know what I am talking about. It has been a tremendous journey, and if there is anyone who is going through this or similar please in-box me and I would be more than happy to share my experience with you.

Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
