I weigh everyday. Often more than once a day. I expect to see NO MORE than a 3 lb difference between morning and night weighs. If it is more, I really look at what I have eaten and adjust from there. Sometimes eating the same stuff over and over leads to a plateau and then I need to change it up a bit.

I have also (in my worst sclae-a-holic times) weighed myself before AND after longer bathroom visits to see if it makes a difference. (It does LOL)

I have made peace with the scale for now.

I weigh myself daily as well. I have no "restriction" right now, so my self control and diet are what's keeping me afloat....and I want to be sure I'm not gaining. If the scale goes up a pound one morning, then I modify my diet that day to be sure it doesn't go up another pound by the next day!!!

I weigh myself daily with the Omron Full Body Sensor Body Fat and Body Composition Monitor scale. A big name for a scale that tells you your: weight, BMI, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle percentage, basal metabolic rate (calories you need to maintain your current weight), body age, and visceral fat percentage.

I weight myself daily and monitor all of those things because it helps me to know if (a) I'm drinking enough Water (B) I'm overindulging © if I'm experiencing my normal monthly fluctuation (d) if I'm building more muscle.

It may not be a good idea for some people but for me it helps keep me on track and reminds me to eat properly and move more so I can see the scale reflect my efforts (more with the body fat percentage and skeletal muscle percentage).

I am glad that I waited to buy a new scale. Now I can buy the "right" scale, the Omron Full Body Sensor Body Fat and Body Composition Monitor scale. LOL I had never heard of this scale before your post. I looked it up online and did some reading about it. Do you find it to be fairly accurate? I think it will be good for me because I need more than just numbers. How does it tell you if you are drinking enough Water? That particularly function would make the scale worth every penny for me. Either way, I will buy one this week! I am keeping my fingers crossed that I do not become obsessed again.

Thanks for the info.

Your body fat percentage and muscle percentage will change based on your Water intake. If you suddenly notice a 0.5% or greater body fat percentage increase over a single day you aren't drinking enough (when you're dehydrated your BF% will be higher than it really is). If you hydrated well the previous day your readings will be very accurate for a scale. Which is different than caliper readings. But this scale is known to be more accurate than most (e.g. Tanita scales overestimate BF% by as much as 55%)

You'll get the most accurate readings first thing in the morning after urinating and totally nude.

When used in combination (Weight Lost / BF% / SM% / VBF%) you'll get a very accurate reading of how you're doing.

If you do get this scale send me a PM and I'll send you a custom Excel Spreadsheet I've made that tracks all of the variables and graphs them month by month.

I do it once maybe twice a week, just to make sure I'm on the right track. It fluctuates too much daily I don't wanna do that!

Thanks much, Acadia. I will PM you when it arrives. I am excited!

I totally agree ! I'm making him hide it today and I won't weigh myself till I go to the doctor next tuesday!

i am to goal with 90 pds gone and I have and probaby will always weigh myself once a day. Each morning after having my coffee and first BM I weigh myself just to make sure I did not gain and am staying the same. This is how I caught the 3 pd gained at Christmas and got it off before it mushroomed out of control. This is my new life and I intend to keep track of this weight on a daily basis. You need to do what you feel is necessary to keep control of your weight. More than once a day is way too much to weigh and just might keep you in the worse mood since Water weight goes up and down throughout the day. If I do eat something too salty I see it on the scale in am and that is another sign to back off on the sodium. I feel I have a handle on this weight issue and my scale is my best friend, it does not lie and keeps me in check. Good luck on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
