Banded January 24..mixed feelings

Recommended Posts

I hope this doesn't sound rude... It is surgery... yes it is painful lol. I would do it a million times if it gets me to where I need to go though. My life as is without the band is painful. I hurt everyday and I am only 27 years old. So if I have to have a few days of post op pain to help me get healthy for life. Bring it on..... This is not for everyone and everyone has to make there own choice. I can't do this on my own but with the band hopefully I can.

I have been banded about 10 1/2 months now. I thought about having this lap band for 4 years. I am a self pay. I will tell all you new banders. The pain will go away. And yes it is very hard no easy way out on this. All in all I can honestly say that I am so happy I made the decision. My life after 75 LBs is so much better in every way. I still get sad that I have so much more to loose but at least now I know I can do this. 90 lbs almost seems reachable were as 165 did not. I wish all of you the best. Hang in there. You can do it.

First let me say I did not think this would be easy or would not come with pain I would be a fool to think that as the last person said it is surgery and surgery requires healing. With that said you go through alot of second guessing. I am self pay so this is not simple or easy for me it is going to take a lot of work with 12,000 out of pocket cost. I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember and with menapause the struggle has gotten unbearable. While I have been recovering I have been watching TV and every commercial is loaded with food commercials so today no TV just relaxing and getting ready to read a book! I still cannot figure out how to post this darn tracker?????? Jackie

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
