saraannie 7 Posted January 26, 2011 OMG!!! I feel like I constantly have to belch, or hiccup. I ate some creamy chix /rice Soup on day 3, I tried to eat broth only but I guess some rice got through. I had my 1st stuck, yikes that hurt like hell, and I had to lay flat so the dern thing would get unstuck. Have not had much of an appetite, my new stomach (I call it junior) seems full but senior is very grumbley. I am guess the belch/hiccup feeling will go away with the gas pain (which haven't been that bad. Just wanted to share any advice on belchy feeling Sara
Kelly kat 0 Posted January 26, 2011 Hi Saraannie! My name is Kelly. I received my band 8 days ago- 01/18/2011. It was one of the best things I have ever done. I think it is funny that I rarely belched before my surgery but now I do it alot! I did eat a grilled chicken salad last night. It was not big but I did it. It did not bother me. I have not experienced anything getting stuck. I have a very close friend that did this like 4 years ago so he has educated me so much. It makes me wonder if your band is too tight or mine is not tight enough. My first post op appt is Monday, January 31st. I did weigh myself on Friday and I had dropped 7 pounds. I tried to do the ticker thing but I could never get it to save right. We both are experiencing the same stuff so I just wanted to indroduce myself and say Hi. Best of luck to you! saraannie 7 Posted January 26, 2011 Hey Kelly, I was banded 2 days after you on the 20th. My surgeon has me on a strict diet, 2 wk liquid before, (lost 10lbs) and 2 week liquid after (no chunky pieces). It is awesome that you were able to eat grilled chicken salad and had no problems. I forgot to ask if I had any Fluid in band, I'll ask on the 3rd. I weigh everyday, I know I shouldn't but I can't help it. Staying steady at 220. YAY!! It was nice to hear from someone who is going through some of the same stuff and has a banded date so close to mine. Good luck! Let me know how you are doing. HeatherinCA 10 Posted January 26, 2011 I still blech almost 7 weeks out, it's annoying, but I can deal with it. I feel like it's mostly after I eat
happygirl65 5 Posted January 26, 2011 I just had surgery yesterday and they said you need to try and belch to get the gas out of your system it absorbs into your tissues etc. I have noticed my belly growling a lot as though I am hungry...but yet I don't feel hungry...if that makes sense. I have had a total of 200 calories today so I guess maybe I am but don't really feel like eating so I just keep drinking that water!
smc503 0 Posted January 27, 2011 I was banded 1/20 and I am on a strict 2 wk liq diet. I have cheated a tiny bit bc doing the preop liq diet then 2 weeks post op is very try. I am curious about what type of diet your doctor has you on? Are you supposed to be eating chix salad? Hi Saraannie! My name is Kelly. I received my band 8 days ago- 01/18/2011. adriennemarie 0 Posted January 27, 2011 i'm one week post op today exactly and i hate the burping. i can feel that i do still have some residual gas and that's part of it, because the burping almost hurts sometimes. however, my father has had the lap band for 5 years now, and he STILL burps when he eats! something about the food bubbling a little bit as it drains from the pouch into your larger stomach and causing an air bubble.. anyway, im supposed to be on full liquids still, but i have to admit i have cheated a littttle bit. ive eaten soft mushy bites of potato from my Soup (chewed realllyyyy well of course) and last night i had a couple peas, carrots, and even a couple small pieces of chicken from my dad's chicken pot pie (so they were mushy) and had no problem! if my scale is correct, ive lost 19 pounds since the day of my surgery! seems like a lot, but we'll see for sure when i go to my post op appointment today! yay! best of luck to everyone! forabetterlife 3 Posted January 27, 2011 I cant believe that your doctor would be ok with you eating a chicken salad at this point. Most doctors have you on atleast 1 week liquids then 2-3 weeks mushies then ease into solids. But to both of you, you are probably swollen still it tends to last upto 3 weeks thats why they have you on liquid diets and NO solids. As the swelling goes down you will feel less restriction and you will stop belching as much but it is a part of life now. If you are already cheating on the diet do you really think you are going to be successful??????
adriennemarie 0 Posted January 28, 2011 not sure a judgmental attitude is the best way to get a message across..just saying. and a couple peas and carrots (basically pureed to the point of mush) is hardly a bad decision, in my opinion.
