does the band fill hurt? i have mine in a few weeks.

I've had 2 and its not bad. Just a quick pinch/burn. And its done. Feels weird when they do the fill. I could feel the saline going thru the tube. It was warm. But the worst of the pain is over.. Fills are a breeze for most.

I have a big problem with needles and when I say big I mean HUGGGGEEE! I am totaly freaked out by them. It seems stupid to get the band with such a problem with needles and pain but it was worth it.

I am just so afraid of pain and always thought fills would hurt. I used to get my doc to freeze my stomach before a fill because I thought it would be so painful bu the fill needle. Though the thought of two needles in me was scary the thought of a painful fill was scarier.

One time my doc convinced me to try a fill without freezing and it didn't hurt at all. It is just a little prink and then it's over.

Now my port is located under my muscles which causes more pain but it is still not that bad. (and of course I am still afraid of needles). They will fill your band from where your port is located usualy near your biggest incision.

Feels like a bee sting for just a minute. My surgeon always did it for me.

I thought it was extremely awkward! But no pain. They stick a long needle into your port, which is somewhere in your stomach.

I was freaked out Monday, I terrified of needles so I was really nervous, that and my port site was really sore that day for some reason. It didn't hurt real bad, it was a pinch and a little burn when he pulled the needle out. My anxiety was worse than the fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
