Even Gastro Dr. says band seems to be in place....I do not want to have the band out...just want to be fixed...My insurance has changed and now coveres nothing to do with the band...but if its necessary what will they do...can they just fix the band?????? Maybe your esophogus is damaged, my surgeon warned me that if i over ate too often and forced my esophogus to work too hard that it would eventually give out and I would not be able to eat normally anymore ...just a thought

Dr. did a camera scope and saw nothing or at least she told me she didn't see anything....only that I may have a small pouch above the band....or possibly occasional slippage??? this was a Gastro Dr......I just have times I can't hold Water down............then all of a sudden I can eat for a day or so....then for no apparent reason I am back to throwing up 8 times a day..........this couldn't be good!!! I have to find the reason and have this fixed.......I am under weight now and still loosing

I would go to another gastro specialist and another band doctor for a second opinion.

I second the suggestion to seek another opinion from a specialist at once!!!! I have not heard this kind of symptom complex before after so lengthy a successful postOp experience. PLEASE let us all know what you find.

I agree with what everyone has said about getting a second opinion. However, before you do, get copies of all your test results, including the operative report, and the upper GI's and endoscopies. In some hospitals you can get a CD of your upper GI's and that would be very helpful with a second opinion. Obviously something is going on and it does sound band related and you deserve answers. Don't give up until you get them.

I agree with the above posts....See ANOTHER Doctor....one who Specializes in the Lap Band. And do it quickly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
