Hello

I live in Montreal and "got banded" last October.

To be very honest , I would love to find people on the same boat.

People that understand what it means to get a fill and how do you feel afterwords.

People who like me has doubts on what to eat at home.. restaurants...etc.

I am always afraid of eatting ( mind you I fight my fear and still do ) , but I am afraid I am not getting enough nutrition , or too much , or I am afraid it will get stuck. Etc.. etc.

I wish I was not addicted to food. I love food ( otherwise a band would not be necessary) , I just need to learn what to eat ,when and how.

I do believe I am getting there...I started at 265 , size 20. Now , 3 months later I am at 230 , size 16 ( yeay) .

So... if you are in the same boat .. please keep in touch.

Hi Mollyjoie,

Congratulations on your band. Who was your doctor and where did you have it done. I have an appointment on the 13th of April, and hopefully I will be a candidate. My GP has his doubts!! Hopefully he is wrong.

Hello Suenan,

My Dr is Dr. Garneau. He is based at Hopital Sacre coeur but his office is at Rockland Medical center. I first saw his this past september, where he explained all the different types of surgery and gave me all the information in order for me to make my choice. I went back a month later, told him about my decision and he put me on the waiting list and told me that it was close to 1 year waiting, but since the surgery didn' t need an overnight stay, I should be able to have it at the Rockland Medical center. Which is where I got the surgery this past march.

Hope this helps. Good luck and keep in touch.

Mollyjolie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
