Being banded Feb 9th!!

Recommended Posts

This has been a whirlwind start to this journey. I decided on the lap-band and had my inital consult on Dec 31st, and the next week I was doing the physical, psych and nutrition class all on the same day. The following week I had insurance approval! I couldn't believe it all happened so fast! I met with my surgeon and surgery is scheduled for Feb 9th.

I am really excited!! I've been yo-yo dieting for so many years, it will be nice to finally have my life back. I've just started the pre-op diet, and I'm a bit lightheaded. I'm doing two Protein Shakes and one small serving of lean meat with a green vegetable. I have to wonder, after the band, do you feel like this with so little going in??

If you are lightheaded you may be a bit dehydrated. Try to push the fluids a bit more. Your body will adjust to the smaller volume of food, but you still need plenty of fluids. February 9th is just around the corner! You are lucky that you didn't have to do one of those 6 month supervised diets (waste of time in my opinion). The lap band is a great cure for the yo-yo diet. It really helps you to not regain what you have lost. (unless you are really determined to undermine yourself)

The best of luck on your journey!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
