I had a fill on Wed of last week, I felt restriction and alsmost a little too much was considering having a little Fluid taken out. So Friday morning I was having trouble eating mandarin oranges and even fluids, they went down but not great. We went out for dinner on Friday night and I was able to eat as much as my husband and this has continued ever since. My surgeon is in surgery all day today and I dont see him till tomorrow but I have been freaked out all weekend that something is wrong. I had a slip a few months back and just had it repaired in Dec so this was my first fill since the repair surgery and Im just nervous there is a leak someplace. Does anyone have any other thoughts on what might be going on????

I hear some people are tighter in the morning. I don't think I have the sensation but I have heard others recommend warm fluids in the morning to help with that.

That being said... I am a bit concerned that you had a slip a few months ago, had it repaired and then push your newly filled band at a dinner the bext night by eating as much as your husband. Please be careful with your little tummy!

My band slipped because I had it filled too tight and was accepting throwing up as part of my everyday life. I had my band filled on Wed, this was a Friday night and I was starving, I wasnt trying to see how much I could eat, I wasnt full and with that being said the restriction has still not returned.

I have had this same phenomena. My band was in a nice place but the doc opted to fill it a little more. I had some restriction for the first day or so, then none whatsoever since. That was months ago and I have had two adjustments, one to reduce and one to fill. I went in an said I could eat anything and he insisted it was too tight because I was eating yogurt. So he took out 0.5 cc and when I came back three months later and 15 pounds heavier he filled back the 0.5cc. And nothing, no change whatsoever. I think there is a leak in the system. I didn't just decide to start eating like a mad woman but I have no restriction. Have you been able to see your doc since, and what did he say?

You still have to work at it, it's not gonna stop you from putting good in your mouth.

Don't depend on the band to physically restrict how much you can eat. It doesn't work that way for most of us. What the band is supposed to do is get rid of the constant hunger. You should be able to eat a reasonable meal (e.g. 3 oz of Protein, 1/2 cup of vegies, 1/4 cup of starch) and not be hungry for 4 hours. Some people do well by having a mid meal Protein snack (hard boiled egg, an ounce of cheese, etc.).

It's not unusual to have immediate restriction from a fill because your band area may swell a little. It may take several fills before you're to the point where you have enough restriction that the hunger goes away. Be patient.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
