Silly Question I know but...

Recommended Posts

I will be 3 months post-op on 1/27 and rarely have port pain. I feel that my port is healed pretty well. So my silly question is....have any of you thought about and/or rode a roller coaster since your surgery? Would you even consider doing this? I have a fill appointment Friday and plan to ask my surgeon her thoughts, but I wanted to get your thoughts too.

I'm 6 weeks post-op and I would consider it. I have no pain and I'm able to sleep on my stomach as usual. I don't really see a reason not to ride a roller coaster at 3 months post-op, unless in your case your doctor has some other reason. My doctor said I could return to all normal activities, including strenuous exercise, after 6 weeks.

This is part of my plan!! I'm only 22 and haven't been able to get on rollercoasters since I don't fit, so me and my boyfriend plan on hitting all the amusement parks when I lose weight!! But I'm only 2 weeks out so I'm a lil far out still

HAHA!!! I am 24 and e and the hubby are going to do the same thing. I am not sure if I can fit but I don't want that embarrassing moment of not getting in and out without a scene! I am getting Banded in June 11 so I am counting down. laugh.gif

I have been on dozens of coaster since being banded. I rode my favorite The Rocking Rollercoaster at Disney 8 times in a row! I think you will be okay if you aren't having any discomfort there should be no reason why you can't. It wouldn't hurt to check with your doctor to see what their take on it is. Mine said no restrictions unless it is causing pain. I am leaving for Disney again in 46 days and am just itchin to get back on a couple hundred times! lol

I definitely plan on doing it!!! After pretty much having to be shoved in one with a shoe horn with about a hundred onlookers in line, I owe the nitro some payback!!!! ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
