How much do you eat?

Recommended Posts

I just got banded on the 29th of dec. And I eat about a cup of food each meal and have 3 meals a day! Now when I get my first fill will I eat less then that?

Honestly, I didn't see a true reduction in how much I could eat until my third fill. Now I eat about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food two times a day, with one evening snack of maybe 1/2 cup of yogurt or sugar free pudding or cucumber slices or something healthy... Some days I can eat a little more and some days I can hardly get anything down... On the days that I feel that I need more calories I will sip Water while eating to get more in. The reason I do this is because I find that most days I am not getting enough calories and Protein in. Not sure if anyone else does this but I had reached a point where my weight loss stopped because I work out and wasn't able to get enough calories in.

Everyone's experience with the band from what I have read is different. Take advice and fit it to your particular experience. This has definitely been a learning process of what works for me and I can say that I have been very happy with the results. Although I had began to get a little discouraged early on because you see some people talk about all of this extreme weight loss in a short period of time and you begin to wonder what is wrong with you and what you are doing. Just keep in mind that the band assists you with gradual weight loss 1-2lbs per week, 4-8lbs per month and your jouney will be a lot more pleasant... Good luck!! B)

Great question! I had my surgery on the 29th of December as well. I go for my first fill on Wednesday so I'm anxious to see how it will change things. Right now I set my goal for 900 calories a day. I eat three meals a day and I don't meausre in terms of cups. I imagine most meals I eat more than a cup and I am still VERY hungry. I am very excited to get a fill! How have you been feeling? Are you feeling satisfied with a cup of food? We should join a group for those who had surgery the same time! Hope to chat with you more.

Since surgery (6.8.10) I have eaten only 4 oz of food three times a day. I don't snack at all. There are some that won't be satisfied with the amount of food their surgeon suggests post-op until they have reached good restriction. And if that's the case for you, I'd recommend that you add a Protein shake or something light and healthy that will satisfy your hunger but won't increase your calorie intake too much. And certainly talk to your surgeon about what they suggest to fulfill the hunger.

If you're doing OK eating the amount you're supposed to eat, go with that. And if you're unsure of how much food you should be eating, ask your surgeon. Each of us seem to have different rules and our portion sizes are different based on where our surgeon places the band. While I've got a 4 oz pouch, others may have a 2 oz or 6 oz. Again, it's all about placement.

The first few weeks I ate about 1/2-3/4 cup. Now I eat about a cup or a little more.

When I was first banded I could eat almost the same amount of food I did before surgery if I wanted to. I howver reduced my portion sizes.

Once my fill was at a good amount I thought I was eating up to 1 cup of food per meal until a month later when I found a large measuring cup which turned out to be my 1 cup measuring cup and i had been eating 1/2 a cup per meal or less for a month and had no idea ( the writing is very small on my cups so I never read the number)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
