Lap Band 2007 - Need Help!

I am new to this site and wanted to get some help. I had my Lap Band procedure done in 2007 and I saw little progress at first. I found that I could not keep hardly anything down and was throwing up all of the time. I never really felt like the Dr. was very engaged with his patients and did not really give a lot of advise post-op. Since then I have done little to improve the situation and I am right at the same weight I was prior to the procedure. While I did not see much of an impact from the procedure I also did not do much to help out my situation. I have decided it is time for me to stop messing around and get control of my situation. I have an appointment with the doctor who installed my Lap Band (Dr. Felix Speigle - Houston) on Monday to see what my options are for re-starting my journey. Have any of you had the same situation? Do any of you have any advise for how I should start back up? Will it be as simple as going to get another fill?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Chad,

I just got my band, and I'm in no position to give advice, but I did make up my mind that if my doctor didn't take an interest, I would find someone who would. Could you change doctors and get a fresh perspective? There are lots of good bariatric specialists in Houston. You might even call and ask who deals with relapsed banders.

As far as I am concerned, my doctor needs to be a part of a team effort and the team is comprised of me, my band, and my doctor. If I don't get the results I expect, and I am following the program I agreed to, he need to work with me to help me be successful.

Anyway--I just thought I'd give you my 2 cents worth----I hope you get on the losing path again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
