Stomach Flu.... I think.

Recommended Posts

Hi! So I was banded on 1/5 - I have the Realize band, but truthfully I think that they all work the same way, right?

So anyway - let me just preface by apologizing in advance as some of this may be TMI, but here goes.

I have been having a huge issue with Constipation up until TH when it seemed that overnight my BM changed - they were much softer. On Friday (like 2am) it hit me like a ton of bricks. Everything seems to be going straight through me. Yesterday I was having trouble drinlking Water because everything just tasted off. I did managed to make two Protein Shakes and consume those, but that is it. Today the runs continue - like water. I don't really feel "sick" today, but I am still having issues. I ate oatmeal with double Protein milk this morning to get some substance and again - about 20 minutes later I was back in the bathroom. Has anyone esle experieinced anything like this? I just started soft foods on TH evening, but I was feeling like this (not to the full extent) TH morning.

Any insight or tips are greatly appreciated!

If you don't have any other signs of the flu like fever, cough, sore throat ect. It may be something else that could have caused the "runs" LOL! Anyways, I forgot that Slenda causes severe diarrhea if you have too much and the other day I was in the bathroom all day long! I thought I had food posioning or something. Then I remembered I made some fruit punch and put like 10 packets of splenda in a large cup. I also had 2 cups of coffee that morning with 5 packets each in them. I also used 2 packets in my Cream of Wheat! Man, what was I thinking! I think I had a total of 30 packets that day! I learned my lesson and I didn't have any the next day problem solved! Anyways, I did some research on the stuff and I am switching over to Truvia! I hope you get to feeling better. Sorry, I gave you this long story but maybe it will get you to thinking about what all you ate that day...

Cough/fever/sore throat are the respiratory form of flu. Diarrhea/nausea/vomiting is the GI (stomach flu).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
