Guest Allena57 Posted January 1, 2004 Hi, I'm new and wanted to share. I had Lap band surgery Nov 8th in Mexico. Went to a Doctor here in the states for my follow up, and fills. I had to have a port revision Dec 30th. The Doctor gave me a fill of 1.5 in a 9.7 lapband during surgery. I knew something was'nt right when I had apple juice in recovery. My husband and I went back to the Bed and Breakfast we were staying. My chest hurt, and the apple juice came up with a lote of bubbles. I felt then that I was closed. I called the Doctor at 4:45 that day. He said I was drinking to fast, to slow down. That 1.5 could not close me up. I forgot to mention the week before we did the Xray and all, thats how we found out my port was turned, and we could'nt turn it right. So he felt that 1.5cc's would be alright. Well I did'nt drink anything, and Water and bubbles came up every 10 to 15 miniutes. This went on until 2:30 in the morning. It just stopped. I thought OK I'm going to be alright. WRONG..., Thats when this black, purple stuff started. At 7:30 I called the Doctor, he says get to the office now. Thank GOD he hit the port the frist time because it was so sore from the surgery. He said the black, purple stuff was blood and I should have called him. I thought I had called him. I was closed up tight. I think that night may have been the longest night of my life. Was wondering if anyone has experenced anything like this? I hope I have'nt cause to much damage. Allena in Florida
kellymoos 4 Posted January 1, 2004 That sounds scary! I have not had anything like that happen to me. I was banded on Aug 20 and had my 2nd fill on Oct 28. I was supposed to have a fill on Dec 29, but for the 2 weeks before the fill I was barely able to drink, so instead the Doc said I was too tight and he took 1.25 out. Can eat and drink now! I will go back in 3-4 weeks and get another fill. Hope all is well with you and take care of yourself!!
quakergirl 2 Posted January 2, 2004 Oh no, sorry to hear that you had such a rough time. Hopefully now that the fill is out you will be able to heal up nicely and everything will be all right. It sounds like this doc needs to learn to trust patients who are complaining about being too tight know what they're feeling!
