Bathing suits

Recommended Posts

This is my first bathing suit season (ok, yes, it's January, but the stores are starting to bring out the bathing suits, even though it's snowing) since losing a large amount of weight. I'm used to wearing a two piece, but a very concealing two piece. normally it's a tankini top that covers EVERYTHING and long boyshort bottoms.

I tried on a two piece two weeks ago that was not as covering. I'm not used to seeing peeks of my middrift of my thighs all out on display. I don't know what to do. I'm tempted to just continue wearing the same bathing suit (even though it's baggy) because it covers me. Thoughts?

Just wear what makes you feel comfortable.

Last summer I got a bathing suit top that has sort of thick fabric ties around the neck to boost up the twins kinda like a halter top style and wore shorts. It wasn't too bad for fishing, but wouldn't wear it where there are people who aren't family. Try a bathing suit with a sarong.

The first time I put on a bikini, I felt like I was on the beach naked, it was excruciating. I feel self conscious about my body though - my size is perfect, exactly what I wanted, I am tall and slim and I dont need to worry about a fat bum on display or huge boobs hanging out of a bikini top, everything tucks in nicely. I dont have a hanging stomach.

BUT - bit but, I do look a bit loose and I guess I look my age. I cant compete with a 20 year old in a bathing suit and i guess I'm a prime example of less being more in terms of women in their 40's and bikinis. For starters I would never wear a tiny bikini, I spend up big on very high quality suits, with undewire, and coverage and such. My shape is such that I actually look better in two pieces, it elongates my body a bit and makes me look less scrawny up top and less hippy below. But this season I have a stoma due to having bowel cancer, and for the time being until that is reversed I'm obviously not goign to wear a bikini with an ileostomy bag on display! I've bought two one pieces and a tankini and thank goodness they're back in this year becuase i felt like I was wearing my grandmother's bathing suit at the start, but in truth, I feel more comfortable more covered up.

But my experience is this - if you pick up a bathing suit and its $250 and you go "no way, i could get this in target for $39", try it on. No matter WHAT shape you're in, a really high quality suit is going to look loads better on you than a cheap one.

Wearing a two piece is something I dream about all the time. That is all I want to do this summer ( got a few more months). I am so close to goal but now with all this Tummy Tuck surgery scar hating battle I have going on in my head i am not sure if I will wear a bikini.

I think wear what makes you comfortable. Who wants to go out wearing something you will just hate the entire time it is on? Go out, enjoy the weather and your new body :)

I say wear what makes you feel good......Try and find a sexy one piece that still covers but shows your weight loss. Good Luck!

I grew up near the beach and have seen many suits in my day. To be truthful I don't think anyone over 25 should wear a bikini. Even if you have the body it makes older women just look desperate. I think the Tankini look is just so much nicer. For those who have trouble finding suits to fit at regular stores Womanwithin.com has plus size suits.

Agreed! The same goes for bras :)

Well, I desided to go on the safe side, also because I am a little bit conscious of my scar that is still dark. But I did go to a very nice website and got me nice ones...

I already used one once and I love it... I wish it wouldnt have crazy lime flowers on it

Yes bras too!

And I tried on a pair of True Religion jeans the other day. Oh my! There is no comparing those with an ordinary pair of jeans. They looked and felt SO good I almost parted with the $350 on the spot and hang the consequences.. But that much on one item of clothing means saving up and sucking up to hubby, lol. He would literaly KILL me (he's an accountant, sigh).

That sounds like a good idea until you get used to your new body. I say comfort first, and confidence. You probably will start to feel confident about the way your body looks once you've had some time to get used to it then bathing suits won't be such a big deal.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
