Hello everyone. Have any of you had problems with throwing up a foamy substance? I have had this issue for about 2-3 weeks on and off. When I eat it goes down but then later I may vomit. Not violently but what I think most call PB'ing. Only foam comes up. I have gone to the doc and had 2 unfills. I have 1cc in my band now. My wife told me to take gas medicine and when I did it seemed like it calmed the feeling of foam in my throat. Just not sure what could be the cause. :D

Are you taking a PPI like Prilosec?

Protein Pump Inhibitor, try taking a two week course of Prilosec OTC. It will reduce the amount of acid your stomach makes, which should reduce the foamy vomiting.

Though talk with your Dr first to ensure there aren't other issues.

Thanks for the input. I looked up Prilosec and seen what the pills look like. Are they something you can swallow easy. Assuming you take them. If you do take it for 2 weeks does it clear up after 2 weeks?

You can take them whole. My dr even has his patients take it for six months after surgery. Your stomach wants to over produce, this helps it regulate itself.

It may or may not clear up after two weeks. If you keep a food diary check to see which foods are triggering it.

This happened to me today, i was in the middle of a class, and bam i needed to vomit. I also felt weakness and dizziness, i puked white foam. The funny thing is that my blood pressure was normal 130/80, could it be gerd, i also felt like something was fucked up with my throat like an itchy feeling.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
