If you are on regular, salad should be fine. I just don't chose them because there is no Protein, and it's not very filling. But I have had them, no problem.

My book says don't add em in till week 12.. but I had one or two small ones w/o a problem.. I think raw veggies don't digest very well.

It varies from person to person. Some people have trouble with lettuce, others are fine with it. Personally, I could eat 5 cups of lettuce and it wouldnt effect me in the least. Its true that there isn't really Protein in salads (or lettuce to be exact), but at 6-8 calories a cup, I love it and definitely choose it. And there are always ways to make salad more interesting and protein-packed.

Here is a cabbage salad recipe from my blog: http://violinistwithaband.blogspot.com/2010/11/recipe-guilt-free-cabbage-salad-and.html

And when I just want something quick, a salad with avocado, carrots, some cheddar and some tuna is a great meal and super healthy. Just measure out your dressings and dip instead of pouring the dressing on top.

I'm obsessed lately with thinly sliced raw zucchini dipped in fat free thousand island! Yum!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
