Today is my one year anniversary and I didn't come close to my goal. My father died in July and my life seemed to fall apart. I had been doing so well and lost 50 pounds prior to my surgery and then since my surgery in this one year i've only lost 30 pounds.

I'm tearing myself up inside that here I am at 1 year and I'm 60 pounds away from my goal still.

Did any of you go through this?

That is too bad you had such a bad year. Your fathers death undoubtably threw you. Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start over again. No shame in that Beauty. It is good you have mourned and will continue to do so, but now it is time to care for yourself. How is your band adjustment? Perhaps a visit back to your surgeon for a tweak of a fill? You can do this, the band has worked for you and will again if you work with it.

I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you post and let us know you are "workin' the band".

Bonnie

Thank you for the congrats Bonnie and you are so right I am 80 pounds lighter and I should give thanks for that.

And my band is probably over full as I often in the morning have a hard time with anything other than liquid. By evening I seem ok and can sometimes eat bread and steak. I guess in the am we tend to be tighter. My problem is truly eating comfort food to make myself feel better. So my weight has been stuck since my dad passed away which was back in July 10. I have mourned and probably too long. I know I need to get back up on the horse it's just been so hard.

I figured this would be as good place as any to get some support before I can go to a support meeting next month. I know they will help but I have dreaded them because I feel embarrassed I guess. :(

I am close to my 3 year mark and still am not at goal. Alot of that has to do with stress. New town, new job exc... But there is no stress like the loss of a loved one so hang in there you will do it. I hope to be at my goal at my 3 year mark but if I am not I will keep on going until I am there. Just keep going and I am so sorry for your loss.

Hi BandedBeauty007,

What helped me after my Mom died was to walk everyday about two miles and to read books. The walking helps to get the happy chemicals in your brain and gives you a sense of well being and a good book is always good to take your mind off of your life. I think it's better to walk outside (if it's not too cold this time of year where you are) because it's less boring than on a treadmill and you have hopefully some sunshine and pretty scenery to cheer you up also.

Hope this helps. Don't be so hard on yourself. You have made great accomplishments in your weight loss up to this point and you are going to continue. You just had what I like to call a little "hiccup" in life that slowed you down a bit but you will be right back on track and feeling great. :)

I was in a similar situation as you (although you're better off at one year than I was). I had lost about 80 pounds initially. And then at my one year, I had probably gained about 30 back (I eventually gained almost 50 back). So at my one year I had really only lost 50 pounds or so. In September (and 50 pounds later), I picked myself back up and got back on track. I've since lost all that I had regained plus more. If I can do this, you can too!! Start tomorrow with baby steps. Track your food or go work out for 30 minutes. If you can't do everything all at once, its fine. Just take baby steps and get yourself back on track 1 step at a time!

Don't be too discouraged! I didn't meet my goal in one year either (a lot of us don't), but I actually lost more weight my second year than my first. I met my goal in about 17-18 months, then went on to exceed it. It still feels GREAT to get there, even when you're a little later than you would have liked! Good luck! :)

i think its healthy to set goals but try not to be so hard on yourself! i too am almost 3 years post-op and i haven't reached my goal yet... but i'm okay with that because i still look and feel good. i've had to work for every single pound that i've lost. it hasn't been easy but that just encourages me to keep it off! i have about 3 more pounds to go before i'm considered "normal" on the bmi chart and it will probably take me a month to lose those 3 stubborn pounds... but i WILL! keep up the good work... you'll get there.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
