needing ideas on how to losse my stomach

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Oct. 19,2010 and to date I have lost 40+ pounds. I have had 3 fills so now i am up to 4.3 cc's in a 10 cc band. My question is I am Pear shaped. I have allot of stomach. I am so afraid of my weight falling off on other areas but my stomach. Does anyone have any good excercises that they do to get rid of the stomach? Also if there are any pear shaped women can you please tell me your stomach eventually got smaller.

You can tighten the muscles in the a stomach area but you can't lose weight specifically in one area. I have lost that little roll in the lower abdomen but still have a belly (above the belly button) that sticks out. Kind of looks like a cliff. Long term I don't see myself having a Tummy Tuck but lipo.....

The above poster is correct. I'm constantly trying to figure out how to lose inches around my lower abs and hips (I'm also pear shaped). Unfortunately, the fat comes off where it wants to, regardless of how you exercise. But if you just continue to exercise it will come off. Since September (which isn't when I was banded, but when I started working out like crazy), I've lost 8 inches around my abdomen, 7.5 inches around my waist and 9.5 inches around my hips. So it does happen. I still have a belly but its reducing. I have about 45-50 pounds to go, and I imagine my stomach will be pretty much gone by then (excess skin is another issue however).

I am top heavy as well. It got a lot better as I lost weight. I had a lot of extra skin on my stomach- had a Tummy Tuck and boob job. I am very pleased with the results. Imho there is no way to deal with extra skin besides surgery. Ones the elacticity is gone there is nothing left to do. Good luck!

Regular old crunches and bicycles help.

Yoga and Pilates also work the core (abdominal) muscles and aren't too strenuous.

Pear shaped is good, it protects our hips and is much less dangerous to our hearts than apple shaped. Not to say that we shouldn't try to get smaller, just trying to point out the positive. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
