Ok...I was banded last March. Since then, I have lost about 130 lbs. I'm always excited now to go clothes shopping. (Never liked it in the past). Well, anyway....I used to be a 44 waist and today I was able to put on a pair of 30 inch waist jeans!!! OMG! I couldn't believe it. I'm sure I was getting looks from people at Kohls when they heard me scream "Hot damn! They fit!" So of course I had to buy them.

I wore the pants the next day to work and I got a comment from a female colleague....I'll paraphrase "Wow! Nice ass!" Ok...I know I'm a guy, but that was AWESOME to hear!!! Just thought I'd share.

That's awesome Chris !!

I never made it too a 44 but I would never admit to myself I was more than a 38. Of course the only 38's that ever fit were the ones with the elastic waist that stretched an extra 3+inches and even they were tight. I am now in the REAL 38 waists and pretty happy about that. I haven't been in a 30 since I was in high school. I was thinking if I ever got to a 34 even I would be doing back flips.

Keep up the great progress Chris.

Congrats!!!

I was banded 8/10 and have lost 60 lbs. I USED to wear 54's and my weight was 361. Today I am 286 and can fit(comfortably) into size 48.

My dream is to be able to buy my pants at Kohls. Not yet but soon!

Congrats to everyone!!!!! I was banded on Nov 1st, 2010. So far I have lost 80 lbs. Down from a size 44 jeans/48 slacks to 36 jeans and 38 or 40 slacks. My recent NSV, The wife and I went to Vegas last week and found the premium outet mall. I was great being able to pick a L or XL shirt off the rack and it actually fitting!!!!! Needless to say I racked up on Calvin Kleine, Polo, and Brooks Brothers!!

Oh yeah, I can totally relate! Congratulations to all of us!

I haven't been able to buy clothes in a normal store in years. If it weren't for Casual Male XL and the JC Penney Big & Tall mail order website, I doubt I'd be able to find anything new to wear. But the selection was always so limited, and fabric patterms so outrageously ugly, I just about gave up. So now, just fifty+ pounds into my journey, I am thrilled to be able to buy clothes that fit "off the rack" in regular stores. I actually found a 2XL jacket at costco a few weeks ago that fit perfectly. Wow! And I had to buy smaller shirts for work because the 3XL sized polo shirts I used to wear were hanging nearly to my knees. Amazing how losng a bunch of excess waistline inches changes how your clothes fit. :)

Congrats on the new you.

I am new to this site and am really looking forward to people's sucess stories. I am also 350 lbs and just had my first fill .I REALLY want this to change things for me, and need to know how much food I can safely have and what is a simple- simple diet. What kind of exercise are you doing ?

Congrats!!!

I started at 323 and am currently 243. I think what helped me is that I stopped thinking about food. My daily beginning meals were, egg white and veg scramble, lunch was usually fish or chicken and veg and fish or chicken and veg for dinner. A snack or two in between of fat free pudding or yogurt. Count calories, weigh portions, and limit starchy carbs.

I was just Banded Monday 1/17/11. I am having difficulty swallowing right now. Dr. told me to sleep in my recliner for a week. I can't hardly sleep that way, but I will try. Reading your posts, I felt tears welling up. I have had to buy my clothes online for so long. Just to be able to wear a normal size. To shop once in awhile in a regular store and find clothing that fits! Congrats to all of you. My Journey starts hard. I haven't been able to keep much of anything done, but I will. Dr. says it is because the hernia repair and the band fit me tight from the get go. Anyways, i pray to be posting like you folks one day. God Bless. Jamey

Jamey, hang in there. It does get easier! The first several days after surgery are the worst. I can't encourage you enough to get up and move frequently, sip Water like a leaky faucet, and take your meds. Before you know it the pain will subside, the stomach swelling around your band will go down, and you'll begin to feel much better. We've all been there.

Rather than sleep in a recliner, I got one of those wedge pillows for my bed. Propped upright against the headboard with a few pillows in front of it made sleeping very comfortable. I was able to lay back and just relax, without putting too much strain on anything. I had band surgery, a hiatal hernia repair, AND a ventral hernia repair all at the same time. I was a wreck. Within a couple of weeks I felt more normal, and now, six weeks after surgery I feel like a new man. Combined with the better nutrition and steady exercise, I'm feeling better than I have in years.

Stay focused, and you'll come through this.

Best,

Dave

As for exercise....I go to the gym and do cardio for at least an hour. I actually enjoy going to the gym now. (Thats something I thought I would NEVER say..LOL!) I rotate among the treadmill, ellipitcal, crossramp machine, and stationary bike. Afterwards, I'll go sit in the sauna and/or steam room. I've been doing this after work and I love the fact that its such a stress reliever. I go home in a much peaceful mood and that actually helps me control my evening eating habits.

As for clothes....I was shopping at Casual Male as well. I hated shopping there. Prices were crazy! Guys you can do it! I went from a 44 waist to a 30 and a XXXL to M in shirts.

Congrats to everyones progress!!!!

Chris

I'm not a guy, but will reply anyway.

Great NSV!!! It feels so good when other people notice the weightloss. Hey, maybe you should change your screen name to "nice ass guy" !! :wink3:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
