malexander 0 Posted January 18, 2011 So, today I am having a bad day. My car got broken into last night, I'm exhausted and my weight loss has been at a stand still. So, I got on LBT to get encouraged and I have read so many discouriaging things! I was banded 12/7/10 and have lost 17 pounds. Not great, but a success just the same. I get my first fill Monday and I am ready! I need tro hear some success stories! I have read the words "I just wasted 15,000 dollars" too many times today. Somebody, please tell me a success story! I need it!

I need it! There is an entire thread on here devoted to success stories. You might want to start there. But I have not found any shortage of those who love to be cheerleaders for the band and tell you how great it works and how much weight they've lost and how it's changed their lives. Amanda1982 142 Posted January 18, 2011 Hey I haven't been banded yet, but there are tons of ppl on this site that have had great success. I also work with a lady who has been banded for a year and has done great. Keep you head up and Good Luck
TKW 501 Posted January 18, 2011 Well, I would consider my self a success, so far anyway! I have learned a lot on my relatively short journey of 7 months. I have learned if i eat junk, I don't lose weight. I have learned if I don't drink enough Water, I don't lose weight. And most importantly I have learned that if I don't exercise, I do not lose weight. I'm not saying this is what causes people to fail, but I can guarantee you if I did not follow these 3 little rules, I would fail! You can do it, but you have to go into it with the right mind set. You still have to work hard at it, but the lap-band is a GREAT tool to help you succeed! I love my lap band! Good Luck to you!
reverie 49 Posted January 18, 2011 Don't get up! Self defeat is not the way to go. Keep your head up, and a 17lbs loss is great. Once you get restriction you'll be set. Hang in there.
Melissannde 41 Posted January 18, 2011 17 lbs in what.. 5 weeks, 6 weeks is great!! You're right at where you should be at losing 1 to 2 lbs a week. I know we all want to lose fast, but the weight most likely was gained slowly and it's healthier and safer to lose slowly (in most cases.. nothing is absolute, except zero. ~ excuse the math/science nerd joke~). Be aware that you might not feel much difference with your first fill. Sometimes it takes 2, 3 or even 4 to "feel" a big difference. And you don't really need a "slap upside the head" difference in feeling if you are eating your small meals and being satisfied for 3, 4 or 5 hours. Seems impossible at first to go that long on such a small amount of food, but it does happen. Try not to worry about the apparent stall right now, as long as your are staying on the plan your doctor or nutritionist gave you. Sometimes our bodies need to take a breather and reshape before they release more weight. I'm really sorry you're having a bad day. Hope things get better for you. (and try not to read the negative threads while you're stressed from other things..)
futurelookinghealthy 0 Posted January 18, 2011 You have lost 17 pounds in a month and I've only lost 37 pounds in 4 months and I still feel like I'm a success. I don't know what you are doing, but it must be working for you. Keep up the good work and I will do the same.

MaineJackie 3 Posted January 18, 2011 I feel like a success!! I saw the doctor today......11 weeks since surgery......I am down 49 lbs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has it been easy??? No. Have I had to change the way I think about food? YES. Have I had to change the way I eat? YES Do I feel deprived? NO........I feel empowered! I feel like I have control over food now. I have embraced this tool....and I work it for all it is worth every day. I have had no complications. I have never slimed/PB'd or got stuck. Could I do better? Yes.....I am not the best with exercise and I realize that the next 50 won't come off as quickly if I don't get my butt in gear. My lapband has saved my life. sld21 26 Posted January 19, 2011 One year post op and down 88lbs. I got my fills, adjusted my attitude towards my food intake and embraced the Y. I also didn't whine, complain, nag or blame anyone but myself (and I really didn't do that often) I sweated the "big stuff" (literally) not the small stuff. Do I still eat what I want? yes but I balance it with the good. It honestly feels no different but my doctor is happy that I have my diabetes, high cholesterol and other things under control (and I looked really hot in my outfit today) 260/172 22/24-12 2x/3x-L Size 10 shoe/9 42C/38C (and a charge card at Victoria's Secret (God help her) 12 to 15 lbs to goal(doesnt seem like much now)
