12 days post-op and I'm down 31lbs, still have shoulder pain

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow strugglers, I love you all!

I'm down 31 lbs post-op, after only 12 days. My body is changing everyday as people are really beginning to take notice. I have a great shirt that I have never been able to wear hanging in plain sight, looking forward to putting it on soon. I don't want to attempt trying it on to soon as It may not yet fit. That could really screw with my emotions to say the least, so I'll look at the shirt for now, but soon real soon.

Your body is just a shell, shells can be broken!

Life-band has saved my life, my life is worth saving!

Love to all,

C.J.

I'm 10 days out and still having shoulder pains, too. I'm down a total of 24.8 lbs since the pre-diet 1/5 and my surgery 1/10. Sometimes it's worse than others...as weird as it might seem...a lot of times...(not every time, though) when the pain comes...if I get up and start walking it will ease up. I try to keep my shoulders back and straight...for some reason that seems to take the pressure off of the nerve or whatever is giving me problems.

Keep up the good work. I'm right there with ya'. : )

I had the most horrible shoulder pain imaginable..I guess you can imagine lol it will go away, it's from the gas they use to inflate you...you'll be ok i promise! walking helps..

I was just banded on the 14th and I had back pain, but not in my shoulders. My relief - a heating pad, that thing worked wonders.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
