Do you have regular fill appointments?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am new to this site. I had my surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Dr. Shaurer was scheduling visits every two months; but my last fill is perfect for now. My next appointment is in February and I don't think I need to go. Do you guys make your own appointment when you think you should go in or does the doctor want to see you at a certain time?

My last fill is definately tighter. There are times I find that my food will get stuck or I'll throw up. I don't think it's because my band is too tight; I think it's because I forget I have the band. I just start eating without thinking about chewing the food well enough. I do notice that I can eat better after lunch; mornings are just coffee or a smoothie or soft eggs. Since I had my last fill on December 4, 2005, I have lost 6 lbs. So 6 lbs in a month, I'll take it. I'm down 29 lbs since August.

I think of fill appointments as an as needed thing. I say if you don't think you need a fill, call and tell your doc that. He may want to see you anyway to follow up.

My doctor does not schedule regular fills. My first fill was 11/17 and I had no restriction so made another fill appt 12/30 and now I am at a 2.cc I am totally restricted. He will not fill you unless it has been 30 days from the first fill. My first fill was 1.5 and now I am at a 2, I think this is it. I have lost 6 pounds since Friday. I have been doing liquids since Friday but 1/1/06 I did finally get some food in. I am very restricted in the morning and can not even get 3 swallows of Water down.

Thanks for the replies. I might just call in to see if he would like to see me even if I don't receive a fill. My appointment isn't until next month. Thanks again.

My Dr. sees me every 3 months. When I'm there we decide if I need a fill.

I'm almost 10 months out and I've had 3 fills. The last time I went to Dr. I did not get a fill. He told me if I needed one before my next scheduled checkup to call and make a fill appointment.

Its always a great thingto see your Doctor, wether or not its for a fill. Take the time & go especially the first & second year so they can track your progress. It may help others in the future to add to the stats your results. Great job on your weight loss this month!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
