what to eat and how soon can you eat after you throw up

Recommended Posts

I decided on some sourcream chips which I bought Friday. I haven't eaten potato chips in like forever. Well after about the fourth chip. I did it! Yep, I slimed and pb'd. My first time ever! oh no, oh yes...............Now here's my question. I'm ready to eat, but how soon after the yucky stuff can I eat....and what can I eat...a shake?

I'm bad and woulda ate another chip just smaller bites(pencil eraser sized) if I wanted them. There are no hard rules what you can or cannot have after a stuck episode. It's what your body can handle. I try not to get too stuck where I can't eat all day. It's really never happened but I can get stuck easily(and chips would do it) but I can put a couple in my palm and that's it for me and eat in small bites. But I figure a palm of chips is better than the whole bag(what I could have easily done prior to LB)

Oh and my vice are cheetos and the small .99 bag is 3 servings easy for me. I keep them in the console of my car(who knows why), I also stash my minature chocolates when I just have to have them. I think I keep there because if they were in the house I would eat them. In the car is too much effort.

I had quite a few times I have been too tight over the course of my journey. I would usually have a shake about 2 hours after the episode and then try a meal a few hours after that. If your consistanly throwing up I would get a slight unfill. I hesitated to do that and suffered needlessly. I was afraid an unfill would make me very hungry- they didn't.

Ditto what Bobbie said. In the rare instance when I get stuck and have to urp up the offending item, I get a glass of hot Water and sip on it. It helps relax the band area...or at least that's how it appears to me.

I'm bad then...when I get stuck, slim and throw up I just go back and finish my meal. It usually happens because I took to big of bites and didnt chew well. I was told that after a stuck episode you should do liquids for 1 day to help any inflammation go away that may have been caused by throwing up...I dont do that obviously....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
