Question about fills...

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever experienced getting a fill and being fine for about 4 days and then all of a sudden you are too tight and can't get food or much liquid down?

I had a fill done on Tuesday and I was able to eat and drink fine until late Saturday night. I drank some hot tea before bed around 11pm and it wouldn't go down very well. Spent the rest of the night coughing and then threw up once from coughing so hard. I was able to eat and drink a little on Sunday and now today I am still struggling with drinking!! I have to take small sips kind of like the first day after surgery. I have absolutely no appetite and I am just wondering if I should go in for a slight unfill???

Opinions and suggested WANTED!!!

Yeah it's common for you to feel more restriction 1-2 weeks after a fill and also common for you to lose the feeling of a fill 1-2 weeks after a fill...I think it all depends on your body and band.

I would feel the full effects of a fill 1 week after not right away.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Zeniada! You know I have experienced that to some extent just not this drastically... I guess so long as I can get something down then I will try to wait out the two weeks... I am also going to call the Dr office to see what they suggest I do.

The main problem with being this tight is that you tend to mostly drink and I am having to watch my intake and pay closer attention to calories...

I know what you mean I was very tight back in Nov-Dec and couldnt really eat I resorted to slider foods and ended up not losing but gaining because I wasnt able to eat and when I did I'd get stuck and slime, after about a month I got .5cc's removed and felt so much better now I'm to the point where I feel I need a very small fill to get me at my "sweet spot".

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
