Starting to get nervous. I'm scheduled with Slimband on Wednesday afternoon. We fly in (my wife and I) from Nova Scotia in the morning. Excited about the change - afraid of failing - again.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks Glenn

Glen remember the band is a tool, nothing more nothing less, you can sabatogue it too if you try. However, the band can keep you honest as you learn to eat and make choices that are the best. As for being nervous, try not to be. Dr. Yau is one of the best. I flew from BC to toronto and back within two days. Just take loose fitting clothing, gas X and you should be fine. Without the band, you know you have failed the in past but with the band you more than likely will not. I have had the band 4 years and although I have had my ups and down (recently gained) my overall loss for the year was 7 lbs. I have never in my life lost weight 3 years in a row. I am a slow looser because my choices are not so good at times, but the band can not be faulted. If you post on your clinics website, you find find they have terrific web cam chats and support. Good luck

Thank you Doddie! Rationally, I know I'm going to succeed, but given 20 years of failures - it will take time to climb that hill. Knowing that you've continued for 3 years is a great motivator - I really appreciate it.

Great journey is about to begin. Take unflattering pictures of your self now, then as years go by, you can see the changes that you make in your photo journal. I love going back to see the differences. Look forward to seeing you on the chat lines.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
