6 months post op

Recommended Posts

I am 6 months post op and the first 3 months I did good and lost weight then ate off program and didn't journal. Last week my husband and I started doing the 17 day diet. I have lost about 1 lb a day this week, I am journaling and counting calories. I have lost 47 lbs. I am wondering what to expect over the next 6 months. If I continue to count and journal should I expect to get another 50 off in 6 months or no. I was so hoping to get 100lbs off by my anniversary. Or is going to slow down, did I miss my window for fast weight loss.

thanks

There's no saying what your weight-loss will be or if it will be steady. Some weeks a lost 1lb other weeks I lost 5lbs. Weight-loss is rarely consistent.

Keep your eye on the end prize but don't give yourself time limits. Keep counting your calories and exercise daily if you aren't already. Both will greatly aid your weight-loss.

Starting an excersise program is key to effective weight loss. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. That's about 10 pounds per month, so your 50 to-60 goal in 6 months should be doable. I at lowcarb, lowfat and high protien. Good for you getting back on track! Good!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
