Cabbage Spaghetti Surprisingly Good!

Recommended Posts

When I do the mashed cauliflower, I throw in a scoop or 2 of instant mashed flakes to help the consistency. Looking for low carb flakes, but will have to travel to whole foods for them I think. I doctor them up with FF shredded cheeses and some garlic. I even had some cooked turkey bacon and put that on top like a "loaded" baked potato. Pretty good.

Thats funny that you posted about Cabbage Spagetti... I had lunch at a small cafe called Zoe's Kitchen and they had a protien plate that came with a grilled chicken breast on what they called slaw, but it was cut and looked like spagetti... I can't quit talking about how delicious it was... Now I can't wait to cook it a little bit and serve it with spag. sauce!!! Yummy!!

In Canada we call this a version of Lazy Man's Cabbage Rolls.

Wow, that's funny! Because I said to my husband that it kind of tasted like my mom's recipe of stuffed peppers, which also included the hamburger mixture inside rolled cabbage!! I don't know if it was Tomato or spaghetti sauce or what on top, but it was good, and so is this!!

Oh my! All of this sounds delicious. Must try the cabbage since I absolutely love stuffed cabbage. The spaghetti squash was yummy and easy to make.

Also, for those of you who like pizza should make eggplant pizza. Bake slices of panko coated eggplant, top with marinara and mozerella and bake for additional five minutes. The outside of the eggplants is crunch and the inside is warm and goey.

Also, we baked the mashed cauliflower and used light cream cheese, parmesan, and garlic instead of milk. Baking it helped get rid of some of the moisture and made the top crunchy.

Just wanted to let everyone know, I made the spaghetti squash spaghetti for dinner tonight and it was AMAZING!!! I just baked the squash whole for a little over an hour in the oven, then scooped out the squash, tossed it in a skillet with my favorite veggie Tomato sauce and then topped the dish with a little bit of skim mozzarella and fresh parmesan. Wow. So amazing! I still have half a squash leftover and I think I'll make spaghetti squash macaroni-less "mac and cheese" with it tomorrow.

Glad you liked it! Spaghetti squash is a staple in my diet now. I eat it with chicken and alfredo sauce when I'm not in the mood for spaghetti! I've even used it in stir-fry.

FYI. To cut down on the cooking time you can put it in Water upside down in the microwave for 4-5 mins or until the skin is soft to touch or when you can stick a fork through it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
