Help!

I am 6 months banded and still having left shoulder pain whenever I eat. I asked my surgeon about it and he said I was probably swallowing too much air when I eat. I'm trying to eat slow, small bites and lots of chewing. It is quite frustrating and painful.

Has anyone else had this problem and have you found a solution?

I have had chronic shoulder pain for over a year. Some people just have it forever. Its the band pushing on the nerve in the stomach and sometimes it may be caused by over eating. Try eating a little less and see if this helps. It depends on what and how much I eat that determines the serverity. But it is tolerable most of the time when its not I put a heating pad on it and it relieves it somewhat.

I have this pain too. It seems to happen when I eat too fast or not chew enough. If it is persistent during a meal I take it as a sign that my pouch is full and when I stop eating because of it I'm always glad. I am usually full at this point and the pain reminds me to stop.

Phrenic nerve pain. Some part of your band is rubbing against your diaphragm which sends a referred pain to your shoulder. Mine has nothing to do with eating and everything to do with the position I'm in...usually reclining but it also does it when I'm sitting in the front passenger seat of the car. I've had it since the day of surgery and no fill. The only solution is to remove it...and that I won't do.
