Cliff N. 2 Posted January 15, 2011 Hi there, this is my first post. i have a surgery date for the lap band on 01/27/2011, i just went to a post op meeting and that most of the people there had the Gastric bypass or the Sleeve, i currently weigh 314lbs and 6' 2'' and would love to be down around 200lbs. but with that said the group didn't talk very highly about the lap band, that it is the hardest way to lose weight and easier to gain weight, and that very few will keep it of.. they were telling us future banners to with the sleeve, now im really confused, thinking i might be making the wrong decision.. did y'all me or women go through this guessing game too??? thanks cliff
Jack 855 Posted January 15, 2011 there has always been a bias of non-Bandsters to promulgate their own favorite WLS. The issue to solve, is for you and your physician to decide which is best for you. I'm in my 6th year postBand and would do it again in a heartbeat. The sleeve might be a good choice for me also, but was not available when I was researching my options. Whatever your choice, there will be those who seek to impose their own opinions on your circumstance. Cheers on your journey whatever option you pursue. No matter what method you choose you can only treat it as a tool and must work very hard to achieve long term success. There is no easy way to lose fat long term. I wouldn't give up my band for anything! And a band doesn't reroute your plumbing so you there's no nutrition absortion component like there is with the bypass.
