are you taking vitamins NOW?

Recommended Posts

What Vitamins are in your daily routine? It was suggested at my seminar (both actually, I went to 2 different doctors at 2 different hospitals) that I start multi Vitamin, Calcium and/or D3. I already had the multi Vitamin, I brought a Calcium with D3 in it only to discover it was the wrong calcium. I just got in from the store they had a bogo (buy 1 get 1) so I got the D3 and also some Biotin (need my hair to grow!) So once I get clarification on which calcium I should be taking (I thought calcium was calcium) I'll go out and get that too.

I thought the reason for our bands was to take us off of our pills? I seem to have picked up 2 more...lol...j/k, I know these are diffrent...

I was told chewable vitamins, and viactiv for the Calcium (I got milk chocolate...its ok, but very sweet). Dont take the vit with the calcium as the Vitamin prevents the absorbtion of the calcium. I wasn't told about the others you are taking. :)

I take: multi with Iron (I use one-a-day sours), D3 5,000 IU, calcium citrate with D, Biotin, B1, B12, coq10, Iron, Cinnamon, Ranitidine (like Zantac), birth control, and Ceterizine Hydrochloride (allergy).

All of those are required except Cinnamon, birth control, and Ceterizine Hydrochloride.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
