Anyone getting banded on Jan 24th??

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for my lap band surgery on January 24th. I am ready for the new start on life, but am getting pretty anxious about the general anesthesia aspect of the procedure. Can anyone provide any help on calming pre-surgery jitters.

The 25th for me!

As far as surgery jitters go...you just have to realize that this is something that is completely out of your control. Let go. You have to put faith in your surgeon to do a good job and bring you through it just like he/she has hundreds or perhaps thousands of times before. You will be fine. General ansethesia is simple...you go to sleep then you wake up and it's all over. :) People have been having surgeries for many many years. I myself ave been under GA 4 times. Each and everytime I am nervouse, but they have you count backwards or sometimes try to say the alphabet backwards...I ususally get to X and it's all over....next thing I wake up to is the nurse in recovery putting a warm blanket on me....COZY!

See you all on the other side!

January 21st! And Valium if you can talk your doctor into it! Just kidding...

To me, the best support is to have someone you love there to hold your hand before going into surgery and tell you that everything is going to be okay (because it will be).

Good luck...we can do this!

My band date is on the 27th and I'm anxious and excited. The general anesthetic aspect is a piece of cake. It's actually the easiest part of the procedure. You are going to get a sedative first and you'll start feeling drowsy, when they administer the actual anesthetic medication they usually ask you to count backward from 100. By the time you get to 90 you're under. When you wake up, it will seem as though you're still counting backwards but wait..the surgery will already be over. So don't torment yourself with worst-case scenarios. Look at the positive side, the pre-op struggle is over and it's time to move on to a new chapter in your life.

I second what others have said. There's no need to worry about the basics, but if you have certain questions give the Dr a call and ask if you can talk to the anesthesiologist to get clarification.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
