Hi catblueluvsyou! i was just banded on 12/30/10. And am also very new to this website, today as a matter of fact. I dont have a lot to tell you because we are both about the same minus a few days. But i will tell you on my second day of liquids I had thoughts that I was going to starve to death and it made me very anxious. But thank God I was also able to talk myself out of that thought process.. Its not easy , but it is doable and I know your having a shakey time now , so am I. We made this commitment to ourselves. And you know what we will make it. Just keep sipping on liquids to get your fluids in. I did liqiuds for a week and am now on puree/mushee phase and its not bad I just put everything in the magic bullett and puree it Hope you feel better soon. And you are not a failure you should be so proud of your self for going through this surgery and taking the right steps to get healthy for you. Hang in. byfaith40 0 Posted January 14, 2011 Catblueluvsyou, you are not a failure, just know its gonna take sometime for us to break old habits. I had my surgery Dec 8, and things are going well for me now. I still have cravings, but I dont give into them because I see the bigger picture.. I started out weighing 498 I now weigh 437 and I feel great. I believe that if my doctor had not put me on the liquid diet for 3 weeks I would have been wanting other foods too. Take it one day at a time, I do. I wish you the best of luck..Keep in touch. hi i just got banded on jan 3rd 2011. so far ive lost 8 lbs. but im losing interest in my foods. i am getting dehydrated. i just cant seem to drink enough. i was so into it and i dunno what happened. i just keep thinking of the foods i cant eat anymore. it hasnt even been 2 weeks. i feel like a failure already. nomorejellybelly 77 Posted January 16, 2011 Hang in there catblueluvsyou. You can do it. You definitely need to drink Water and be hydrated. It bothers me a little when I want to eat more than I know I should or when I can only have a bite or two of something (I'm like why even bother). That is a real pain, but it's so totally worth it. Slowly try different foods that you liked and see if you can tolerate them. I've not had a problem with any foods. I can still eat everything I did before (except I don't like eating lettuce anymore). I just can only eat that very little bit. You are not a failure. It is a big change. Please keep in touch on the forum. We're all here for each other.
Hey_Miss 1 Posted January 16, 2011 You are not a failure. The first few weeks are hard while you are on liquids. I literally threatened to put a cheeseburger in my blender. I'm still having trouble drinking enough Water, but it does get better. I promise that.
Xandy&Zak'sMum 0 Posted January 16, 2011 Hi Catblue, It really does get easier. I do still struggle, but slowly food becomes less important. It doesn't consume my thoughts anymore. Sometimes I will really get a craving or miss things, but 5 months out I can definitely say my outlook is different. I have messaged you! You can do it. It will be hard at first. You may be depressed, or frustrated but things will get easier and you will think about food less often and once you see some results, it will be a big boost. Stay in touch! sunny70 0 Posted January 16, 2011 Hi and congratulations!! I won't get banded until March 10th but I am on the forum to learn as I go. Thank you for being willing to share your experiences (good and bad). I am afraid of many things and I just want to give you a BIG thumbs up for getting to this point. YOU CAN DO THIS! I don't know what it feels like to be where you're at, yet, but keep telling yourself "WAY TO GO!!" From what I've read it is very hard the first couple of weeks. Did your surgeon offer support groups? Stay in touch either way and we'll get through this.
Rowdee 0 Posted January 16, 2011 Hi Cat, I got banded on December 23rd. I am kinda feeling wierd myself at this time, because I have lost weight but am unsure about if I am doing my food right. I worry all the time if I am getting enough Protein, am I drinking enough Water, am I drinking too much water. I so want to succeed in this. My starting weight was 217 and I am at 195 as of yesterday. I look in the mirror and I see it a little but not like I feel I should. The scale says one thing but the mirror shows me something different. You are going to make it because you already took the biggest step in having the surgery. I know you can do it! I know I can do it as well, but I am really confused now in doing it correctly.
