Does anyone have a calorie range that they are or were shooting for 2-3 weeks after surgery and beyond? I was told that I would eventually have a goal of 1,000 calories but all of my paperwork with suggested food plans is much lower (anywhere from 400 to 600 calories).

I was always under the impression that consuming that few calories would make your body hold on to everything it could because it thinks you are starving yourself. I know that was before the band but doesn't it still make sense? It seems like our bodies need more than that to thrive. Please any suggestions or experience would be helpful.

Thanks,

Jenn

My Dr says 1000 calories a day is healthy in my case. I will be honest to tell you I am having a hard time consuming that many calories and I havent had a fill yet since I had such a good loss the first month post op.

Hello Floridays,

I am 4 weeks post op and was told by my nutritionist to eat around 1200 calories a day. I'm sure that I'm not eating that much. I would say more like 1000. I will go in for a fill on Feb 1st. I do hope for some more restriction with that fill. I am having to use some willpower for sure but trying to keep my Protein high so as to help with hunger. By the way I live in St Pete. Dr. Huguet did my surgery, How long have you been banded for? Hope to hear from you soon.

I'm a month out from surgery and am consuming less than 750 calories per day. I think in a few weeks I am supposed to be up to 1000 but I'm having a hard time getting the 750 in. I'm still on 1/2 cup per meal so that's probably the reason.

I've been sticking around 1300 cals/day. I spoke to the nutritionist late last week and he said to aim for between 1100-1300. Going for my first post surgery fill today, was filled at surgery (6 cc's) and feel like I need a fill.

Good luck :)

3-5 wks post op I was doing less than 1000cals no problem. Now, week 8 post op and no fill yet I am hungry a lot. I try very hard to stay at 1200-1300 cals. I go for my first fill jan 25 and I hope that helps me. I only keep my cals in line now with willpower and keeping all the trigger foods away from me. If I do go over for a day it's with a healthy good food choice, not junk. My dr says that after a few fills I should reach a point that 700-900 cals daily will work for me. He says that after you reach goal that your cals will increase by a large amount to maintain. That's reassuring cuz it's depressing to think of 700 cals forget!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.
