I had my surgery in March '09 and I've got sucked back into my old eating habits and need help getting out! I've tried on my own for about 5-6 months now, and it's not getting any better. I'm currently 7 lbs from my surgery weight, and starting to get depressed. Lost my job in Sept. so that's not helping me much either.

I try and do Portion Control and not drink anything around my meal time, but it just seems like 40 minutes to an hour later, I'm hungry again!

It seems like right now, I'm at a dead end and getting no where.

My insurance switch and now does not cover this so I can't go back in to see my doctor.

So, does anyone no of any good and helpful support groups online? I looked on here, but couldn't find any.

Thanks so much!

WTF get to your Dr. and get a fill. I am a self pay and dont have any $$$$$ but I manage to save enough to get my fills.

You need to find a Dr. that takes self pays. They almost always offer less expensive options.

Dont give up Kayla.

Try your best and attend some support groups (online or in person) if you can. I have been doing the backward slide lately but I am realizing that even if I am snacking and drinking whe n I shouldn't, it is still about the quality of food that I am eating. Junk food is bad for you no matter what the portion size. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can find a way to see a doctor and/or get into a good support group!

Do you have any kind of restriction???

If it's filled to the max then I think you may have a problem and need to see your doctor...

Being hungry and waiting and hour or 2 between your meals isn't going to kill you... If you are hungry eat carrots - celery - a piece of fruit -

When we think we are hungry we eat Cookies - candy - chips junk - Fruit & Veggies don't sound appealling -its the high fat sugar stuff we want to eat

So eat BF - then plan for a healthy snack - like an apple - eat lunch - then plan another healthy snack some celery & Peanut Butter (measure this) - eat a portion controlled dinner - then later when you are hungry have a salad - or some more veggies - then have a sf fudgescicle or 2 sf pudding...

It's really about our food choices not just our Portion Control - You can eat a candy bar for 230 cal and won't be full at all or if you eat 1 apple for 100 I bet you would be fuller

Hi Kayla I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I too have suffered a relapse of sorts. During my pregnancy my band was half unfilled and I gained around 80 lbs. I'm trying hard to get back on track. My question for you is do you have restriction? Are you eating around your band? If you have no restriction with a max fill, then I would really get to the doctor. It could be a sign of a bigger problem. I hope things start to get better for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
