Please someone answer my question , o.k i have a 10cc band in . my surgery was nov 10th. my first fill was a month later, my dr. put 1cc in . then a month later he put in 5cc"s .I told him that this 1cc thing just isn't doing it for me. so i asked him not to only put 1 in ,because thats how he likes to do it. a little at a time. anyways here i am with 6cc's in my 10 band and really don't feel any different than having 1cc in band. I have lost weight (20pds) but i just don't feel like the band is tight. as crazy as it sounds i want to have that feeling like i'm going to throw up so i at least know the my band is really working. If i have a band that is a10 cc what happens when its got all 10cc's in it because i only have room for 4 more and your still fighting being hungry. Plus i'm only in it so far two months. thank you anyone that can help me, can't turn my brain off.

Hm are you doing everything right?

You shouldn't want to throw up! You don't need to test it. You have to police yourself, the band is just a tool in your weightloss. It can't stop what you put in your mouth. Listen to your body, are you hungry or do you just want food?

I didn't feel much restriction at all until I had 8 CCs in an 11 CC Realize band. Hang in there, get your next fill on schedule. Proper restriction will come. Until then, focus on good nutrition and exercise.

For me, I only feel like I'm going to throw up if I've eaten too fast or haven't chewed well enough. Before I had good restriction, it didn't matter how fast I ate. Now, it matters a lot! I don't want to feel that way, because it indicates there's too much in the little pouch created by the band and I don't want to stretch it permanently. Also, I don't want to get into eating disorder territory. That's the last thing I need. But if I chew thoroughly and wait a couple of minutes between bites (up to 5 minutes if needed), then I'm okay.

Good luck to you.

I am new to the band but My Dr cautions about being to restricted. He said that leads to way worse problems down the road.

However, if you are really hungry after 1 cup of food I would speak to him or the nutritionist about what you are eating. Basically My Dr says that if I am truly starving and cannot make it 3-4 hours on 1 cup of food then I may need a fill. In fact I am dying for a fill to "see how it feels" but since I am making it 4 hours on a cup of food... he said I am not ready yet.

I agree with the other poster. You really shouldn't base how tight you are on whether or not you can throw up. My goal is to never feel or to actually throw up, and thankfully I haven't.

I noticed when I inched a few past 6cc's I had greater restriction. Now that you're at 6, I'd try a .5 or at most a 1. See how you feel after that. At this point a tiny amount can make a big difference. For me the difference came at only a .2.

Keep up the good work!

I think you should listen to your doctor. If they feel adding Fluid to your band slowely is be best way to go, then that's what you should do. A slow weight loss is much much better than a dramatic loss. Your doctor should know what is best for you.

I am just now getting some restriction at 9.4 CC's. At 6 I had nothing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
