24 hour diet - I lost 3 pounds

Recommended Posts

My girlfriend gave me a copy of a 24 hour emergency diet and swore she lost 3 pounds. Well I thought she was smoking something. I looked at it and thought geez that's a lot of food but I'll give it a try. I have a copy that I scanned and you can e-mail me and I will get it to you but it is simple

Breakfast

1/2 cup low fat Greek yogurt

1/2 cup berries

pinch of ginger

8 oz of coffee or green tea - i did not drink WITH the meal

snack

15 unsalted raw almonds OR

22 unsalted pistachios

8 oz of coffee or green tea - I drank herbal tea for the rest of the day

lunch

3 cups of lettuce greens

3 oz of poached chicken breast or 3 oz of unsalted tuna packed in Water

2 teaspoons olive oil

cayenne pepper

vinegar

8 oz of coffee or green tea - I drank herbal tea for the rest of the day

snack

6 cherry tomatoes

1 hard boiled egg ( ate these spaced out - not in one sitting)

8 oz of coffee or green tea - I drank herbal tea for the rest of the day

dinner

3 oz of salmon cooked in 1 teaspoon of olive oil and lemon juice (add herbs to taste - i used dill)

1/2 cup of roasted sweet potato

2 cups of steamed spinach with turmeric or coriander

8 oz of coffee or green tea - I drank herbal tea for the rest of the day

the dinner was WAY to much to eat in one sitting so I ate the salmon waited...then the spinach...waited then the sweet potato.

I'm doing it again today and don't expect to loose 3 more pounds but may be one or 2 more.

Good Luck to those who try!

Malinda

That's pretty much a standard diet! The stuff I was supposed to eat pre-band haha. Sweet 3 pounds is awesome.

OPPS small but important point. NO SALT,, NO SUGAR, NO ARTIFICAL SWEETENER, NO MILK OR CREAM. I think this works because you wont retain Water...so we will not lose fat just Water. I'll take it any way i get it!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
