I was just wondering your pain threshhold after your surgery...I have wee little ones, when I say that, I mean 20 month old little spoiled divas! Twins who require a lot of mommas attention. I love them to pieces, but I know that it might be hard so I was wondering how you did it all. Should I pay that extra week of daycare and rest rest rest or will I at least be able to function at 75%? I see where some said they went back to work after a few days, but kids are WORK! Any input is appreciated!

I was banded on a Thursday. I very uncomfortable on Friday and couldnt have taken care of anyone. Saturday was better but I didnt do much of anything. Sunday the same. Tried to go to work on Monday and made it a 1/2 day. Tuesday I worked from home and was back FT on Wednesday. I felt like mysef about a week after that.

I am older than you and havent chased after kids in some time but I would say it would have been at least 4-5 days before I would have wanted to attempt it.

Its going to depend on you... maybe have a back up plan in place in case you dont feel up to it. Just a suggestion.

I have 20-month old twins too! I have a boy and a girl and they require a lot of attention and lifting. I would highly recommend putting them in day care that extra week if you can. That is where I am at right now. In fact I had my surgery two weeks ago and I have still not lifted them to put them in their cribs. I have had them in daycare and my husband has been doing all the lifting. I've decided that I would start slowly lifting them this coming weekend. That said you can function at 75 % after 3-4 days but... do you really want to over do it and then strain yourself too much? I can easily go to work now but as you know taking care of twins is a lot more work (and more rewarding) than most jobs! One thing I've also been trying to do is have them climb on me the best they can. Let me know how you do and best of luck!

Jenn

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
