Welcome Doc, we just kinda hang out here and visit...congrats on your upcoming surgery! We'll gladly fill in the details for you on anything you want to know, and you can learn stuff now by using the Search feature across the top, underneath the banner. Hang out with us anytime!

Yes, I oversee the selling of DD's Girl Scout cookies...I will be happy to mail them to anyone who is brave enough to have them nearby! YOu can PM me, and I will work with you from there. Do not feel obligated to order; I certainly understand the pitfalls of Girl Scout cookies! So, Anne and Betty, I'll just put the ball on your side of the court. Betty, I might even be tempted to meet you somewhere to deliver them! Now, honestly, I must get myself to the bed! Hugs to all, Cindy

Words of WISDON..DON'T BUY ANY YODELS!!!! Thankfully DH and I just finished the last of the yodels and they only sell them in NJ! I won't be there again until March and if I get a Yodel urge, I'll buy a pack of 3 not 23!!!

OK I need a kick in the butt..Fill on Thursday so that will help. Yodels are gone. Some Cookies I wanted to open I put in the car to give to a customer tomorrow instead of me!

Sounds like you all are really trying hard to get back on track. WTG gang! keep it up. I did 60 crunches this morning. Tomorrow morning curves by 7:30 and then making smart choices not stupid ones.

Have a good night ya'll, di

Wow, you guys!! There is so much wonderful stuff here that I don't even have time to read it all right now - but I didn't want to let another day go by without stopping in to say

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

These folks here at work seem to be taking the whole Work Concept seriously today - and I am late, late, late getting home to DH. Have to run.

LOVE to see all the new faces. I can't wait to read all this info and have a chance to respond.

Maybe tomorrow...

:]

Cindy, I never take what you say as sarcastic, just straight from the heart or I know you're kidding. You don't have a hateful bone in your body girl.

Anne, I know you didn't buy that Lite Brite, was somebody mad at you and bought that for your DS, LOL. I had this sister n law I didn't get a long with, so every year I use to give her girls these huge PlayDough sets, now Cindy you know who the evil one is, hehehehe.

Doc, the 12th is soon, go eat a big hamburger for me, with lots of mayo.< /p>

Sherry good luck on getting a date.

Eileen, did you quit working? I thought you went back to work last week. Snowing again, I think I already posted on here, but we had severe thunderstorms with lightning last night, my mom said it's an old wives tale that when that happens in the winter you usually have snow within 7 days, guess we'll see. Speaking of daycare, I got gson #2 tomorrow, 1/2 a day, he wears my ash out, LOL.

Good Morning,

Welcome Doc !!! its so nice to have you here. I'm glad your not nervous about the surgery. Jesus said to give your burdens to Him and that sounds exactly like what you are doing. You see thats what I need to do, trust in Him more, and turn everything over to Him. Being human is hard !!!!! The 12th is coming up fast.... are you excited ?

Dianne, I haven't had a yodell in years... ding dong, either. You bought the big box??????? living dangerously huh ROFLMFAO !!!

Beanie, we miss you...

Pat, no I didn't quit work, I am just taking my vacation that I have saved up. I go back on Monday. My next vacation is December 2006.... uhhh. I have to save my days incase my DD gets sick so thats why I use them at the end of the year. Companies look down on women who need to take time off for their kids, no matter what they say or how family orientated they seem, they still hold it against the mothers. Nice huh.

Cindy, maybe I'm strange but i think I'm the only one that doesn't like girl scout Cookies. I buy them from the parents at work (for their kids) and I give them away. I'd rather have Chipahoy's lol. Good luck to your daughter w/selling them. Gotta ask you this.... do the kids in your class know you are retiring? if so, how do they feel about it.

Sherry, can you put a piece of foam under your butt when you ride your bike... might help. Men's butts are weird LOLOL !!!!! Good luck at the doc's. Let us know.

Betty... get away from the kitchen... no more Cookies lady ROFL !!! so how's the no sugar coming along, is this day #4 for you ?

Today its actually sunny out with blue skys.... ahhhhhhhh beautiful !!! I have no "real" plans for today except I have my car loaded with old clothes from DD and a TV that we don't use I'm giving to my sister since her's just went kablooie.

Time to jump in the shower peeeeeeeeew! and get dressed (well in a few minutes lol).

Hows everyone today?

Good Morning!

Welcome Doc! Glad to hear your not too nervous about the big day. It will be here and over before you know it! Mmmmmmm popcorn, I love it!

Eileen - You wouldn't believe the Cookies I still have here! I have a fridge out in the garage that is full of the chocolate candies, I put some in the freezer, and my table in my kitchen nook is full of freezer bags of them. I don't even want to see Cookies for a long time! I won't throw them away because DH eats them every day, he even takes them for lunch and if I threw them away, I would just have to buy him some. I had my fill of them, so I haven't touched any all week and they actually haven't been calling my name either.

Beanie - We miss you!

Cindy - Good luck with the cookies! I think I will pass this year!:D;):)

Pat - Play dough! ROFLMAO! Now, that sounds just like you!

I have some errands to run today, so I want to get an early start. Although, I want to let the people get to work and off the roads before I go!:laugh :laugh :laugh The traffic is horrible here during rush hours.

Catch you all later! Have a good one!

Hi, everyone! Well, the kids are back, and I think I"m getting dizzy handling all these things at once. It's like always, but I'm not used to juggling quite so fast, since we've been on vacation...I'll soon get my "sea legs" under me! Love seeing the kids again! Well, most of them....

Eileen, I have been telling the kids that I plan to retire in Dec. 2006. In their heads, a year , a loooooooonnnnnnnggggg time from now, so they are not sure it will affect them. Some of the kids I've had for a long time (2-3 years), are trying hard to graduate before this date! I make 'em feel bad by saying, "You're gonna be here after I retire!" Hey, it works.

Pat, you ARE evil ( in the same way I am, LOL!)! Playdough is a pain! Something I used to do for my nephew, is give him things like electronic drums, and other noisy items...all in love, of course! I know you understand me, girl!

Betty, no prob about the cookies...I TOTALLY understand! I"m trying to avoid them myself! Curiously, stuff like that does not hold the appeal it once did...don't know why, but I'm glad about it!

To all, I love keeping up with you, even though I don't always address everyone by name! Beanie, thanks for posting, we miss you!

Back to work, Cindy

Leslie, I think the general consensus is that hair loss is caused by not enough Protein in the diet. Try doing an advanced search for more info. My nutritionist wants me to get in at least 60 grams of Protein a day. No Hair loss yet, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)

How are y'all doing today? Cindy, I get tired just thinking about being a teacher. I thought about being a teacher once upon a time and I decided that I didn't have the patience. Congratulations in advance on your retirement! Those kids are really going to miss you!

Pat, sadly I have only myself to blame for the Lite Brite pegs. They were a gift from my mom, but I suggested it. Hmm... MY sister-in-law gave MY KIDS a huge box of playdoh for Christmas!!!!! I must've done something to tick her off, LOL. I know what her son is getting for his birthday... :)

Betty, I love your name. My little girl's middle name is Elizabeth. I hope you were able to get those errands done today. I went into town to do a few things and it was so nice not having the holiday crowd around! I've never decorated for Valentines Day before, but I bought some fun hearts and garland to put up. My son was so excited when he came home from school! He already told me that I'm not allowed to take them down. I think he's traumatized from losing the Christmas tree, LOL.

What do you guys do for a living? I know that Cindy's a teacher, but I'm in the dark on everyone else. I'm a stay at home mommy now, but I'll probably go back to work in a few years. Speaking of, it's bath time so I have to scoot. Hope everybody is doing well with those pesky new year's resolutions! :)

Howdy folks:

Doc - Congrats on your surgery date. Not too far away now!

HarleyNana - Great chatting with you in the chat room the other night. I think the chat room will be a great resource once more people start using it. Don't you?

Mouse - Thanks for the sheepskin tip...I'm going to have to try that. Oh and ummm duck your head the next time you go out to buy playdough heh heh

Betty - Congrats on your sugar free days. Hope that's still going wel.

NJ-thanks for the tip with the foam but, I tried a foam pillow and almost fell off hahaha. I had to stop and adjust so many times I wasn't working out on the dang thing lol. I guess my butt will just have to toughen up hahah

ReneB-You home yet? Hope you got a chance to relax a bit.

Sunsett - Yodels...yummm especially cold from the refridge with a cold glass of milk. Hence, why I can no longer buy them :) Just nibblin the chocolate off the ends then around the yodel then unrolling the yodel layer by layer....ummm can ya tell I've had too many of them? hahaha Glad they are now gone and you can move on :)

GUESS WHAT! I've got a date! Monday, February 13th at 7:30 wahooooo

Hope everyone has a great night. I'll be in the chatroom for a while if you'd like to join me. HUGSSSSSSS

Hi Everyone,

Okay it was bad enough with the tempting Cookies Betty made but now Yodels and Girl Scout Cookies? ?…. Your killing me!!! If someone mentions Ben & Jerry next I will be on suicide watch !

I’ve been slowly and reluctantly easing back into work this week after having time off… Ugh! Good thing is that I have so much vacation time left that I have to take by the end of the month… so I will only be working 3 days a week for the rest of the month!! Yeah!!

Eileen – see the ball drop in person? Are you crazy?! No way – it is way too crowded for me. I had to go to Toys R Us in Times Square in the afternoon and it was already jammed with people that I could barely cross the street. I hate crowds and have sidewalk rage when people walk to slow on the street can you imagine me in Times Square? I would be arrested for multiple homicide! I escaped to New Jersey for the weekend!

Not much going on with me ..I’m just trying to be more careful about eating. Like most people I ate too much during the holidays and my fill was not behaving. One day chicken is fine the next day I eat two bites and barely make it the bathroom in time to PB. Since that’s happened a bunch of times now I am being extra careful. I’ll be hitting the gym for the first time in a long time tomorrow. No dreadmill for me… just swimming and yoga. That’s a start for now…

Time to watch the Rose Bowl…..Have a good night everyone…

Congratulations Sherry! I know how excited you must be. Feb will be here before you know it.

Eileen, I'm one of those "family" bosses, LOL. Talking about calling in to miss a day, I have one guy whose grandmother has died 6 times in the last 8 years, LMAO.

Anne, you made me laugh out loud with the birthday thoughts.

Betty did you find a job yet? Specially after that rough day you had for your interview, LOL.

Zan, I'm a fast walker too, I get irritated just walking in the mall. I swear the next time I go to Vegas and get behind those old people walking through the Casinos I'm taking a cattle prod, that'll get em movin. (did yall get that? me referring to old people, :laugh :laugh :laugh

Cindy, I need to pm you about getting ideas on putting some clothes on ebay. I finally brought my "special ebay" checking account #'s home so I can start a sales account. I think if I ever did it a time or two, I'd get it, but I find it quite intimidating to start with.

I'm not naming any names, but I suggested to someone that we have a "room" to have a LBT auction or items for sale, wouldn't that be neat? We'd just have to figure out how to do the transactions and agree all transactions would be handled between the buyer and seller and not hold LBT liable for anything. Just an idea.

Later pals....

Howdy!

Again, this whole Work thing is crazed - and I am spent today doing yet MORE stuff for the Committee ChairChick thing. I guess I am stuck with it until after Friday, when we have our big Committee Membership Rally...

Anne - great to have you here! I am a mortgage underwriter. Oh - and if you REALLY want to be evil - get toys that make NOISE. The more annoying, the better... Zylophones are a favorite.... (Oh, yeah. Evil, thy name is Irene)

Doc! Welcome and congrats on your surgery date! You picked the right place to come for information. The folks on this site know about all there is to know, and we even have an MD or two that visit periodically. It's all good. Besides, we have a great time getting to know each other here in the Jersey forum - even though lots of us are from other places. :]

Well, today I got to read - but I don't have too much time to reply to everybody... I miss you guys, too.

I am still hammering out the details of the next trip North - but it looks like the time for any get-together would be SATURDAY, Jan 21st - after I have done my time in Due Diligence Review. My flight leaves Newark at 4 - so it would be a breakfast/morning thing.

OR - we could always do a late-night friday night (Jan 20th). Whatever works for the most people. I would so love to meet everyone!!

IRA??? 1) Where are you? 2) Whatcha doin' on Friday night or Saturday morning on the dates specified above?

Everyone - I PROMISE I will find or make some more time to check in.

Love you guys!!

Irene

Wait just a minute (cue ominous music) I think I've uncovered a Christmas conspiracy here!! The same SIL who gave my son the 24 pack of Playdoh... Gave my daughter a zylophone!!! I'm not kidding! Oh, she is in so much trouble next Christmas. Her 2 year old is getting a full drum set. Actually, the conspiracy may be me against myself... I asked for the zylophone! :)

Irene, thanks for the welcome! This thread is so much fun. I wish I lived in NJ so that I could meet everybody.

Pat, I love the LBT clothing store idea! It makes sense - I just hauled a truckload of stuff over to my sisters house so that she could put it on eBay. Paypal makes buying and selling so easy now. I hope it works out.

Zan, I don't blame you for skipping the ball drop. Standing in that crowd would be a nightmare for me. I don't even go to Walmart on Saturday because I hate it when people are in my way, lol.

Sherry, congratulations on your band date! February 13th is right around the corner. When do you start liquids?

I'm so excited... We had bedroom furniture delivered today! We've been married for 8 years and we've never had matching furniture in there. For the first two years of marriage we used one of those big wardrobe moving boxes for a tv stand/dresser, lol. Now I just need to pick out curtains and pictures. I love to decorate. :)

No dreadmill today... I have to get moving tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great day!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

    • BeanitoDiego

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
