Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

I am three years out of my lap band surgery and just crossed my 100 pound weight loss figure. So happy with that. All the hard work has well been work it. Here is my question regarding weightloss.

Does anyone experience periods of time where no matter what you do, no weight loss occurs? I can go months at a time eating right, working out and nothing changes with the numbers. Then, all of a suddent I am down three or five pounds in one week. Anybody out there have that same experience?

I am very curious to see if anyone understands why this might happen.

I was 5 months with no weight loss then 7lbs in three days. Sometimes if you eat too much Protein it will cause no weight loss or weight gain. I think our bodies are just adjusting to all the things we never did so they want to be rebels at times and say no. However I think Im back on track with losing again. Hope I dont get stuck again for a long time.

Yup, you have described my life. Lose 3 pounds one week then go four without anything. I have grown used to it and I will get to my goal soon but I have not attached a time line for that. It will happen when it happens.

KUDOS for losing 100 pounds. You go girl!!

Thank you. I eat Protein at every meal and sometimes just Protein. I will try adding a little more carbs and grains to my daily intake and see if i notice a faster drop in weight. Thanks for the encouraging words.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
