:) I had my first fill on 12-27 and have felt a lot of restriction. I am tracking my calories and have had around 1000 calories a day, mostly protien but when I got on the scale this morning I have actually gained a couple of lbs. How can this happen? I am drinking at least 2 liters of Water a day and I'm not even constipated. What gives??

You might have to consider bumping those calories up to 1200. I was around the same and I stopped losing. I bumped mine up and am now seeing some movement.

Wow! I hadn't thought of that. Where in Texas are you? I am in Katy (right outside of Houston)

Cindy, 12-27 was FOUR DAYS ago. It's entirely possible your body will take a little longer to respond to decreased calories. Please don't weigh yourself every day if you're going do be bummed about the fact that one day of 500 calories doesn't result in a pound of lost weight the following day.

Losing weight is a process that doesn't occur on a perfectly predictable schedule. You're doing great, so cut yourself some slack. The weight will come off and you'll wonder what you were worried about.

First is to remember that the scale measures your entire body mass, not just your body fat. A main culprit of unexpected weight gain is Water retention. This can happen for no apprent reason, or one of several that are more apparent: PMS/menstruation, eating salty foods, hot weather, etc.

You don't mention an exercise routine. If you eat 1000 calories, and your daily routine burns 1000 calories, you won't lose weight.

Cindy,

That happened to me, too, right after my first fill. It was like Alex said, it took a few days for my body to adjust to the new caloric intake. Also, it may take a couple of fills to be at a good, restricted level and sometimes it takes a few weeks for the fill to "kick in" (I have no idea why, but it happened to me, too).

Good luck.

Oh, by the way I grew up in Katy, off of Mason Road. I live in San Diego now, but my sister still lives there, off of Fry Road.

I have noticed around a week before my period I have major Water weight, and a few days in to my period I drop a few, could this possibly be it??

You have Water weight gains and losses every day as well. You dont gain a couple of pounds of fat overnight, its water. Weighing daily, although I do it obsessively myself, tells you very little and usually only causes worry.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
