ariscus99 1 Posted January 11, 2011 Who's your pick for superbowl XLV? I'd love to see the Jet's and the Packers, I played against Aaron Rodgers in high school and with him one year in college, so since my Buccaneers are out of it my #2 team is the Packers, and I'd love to see them get the win. More realistically I see the Patriots and the Falcons with the Patriots taking it. What do you all say?
Cleo's Mom 257 Posted January 11, 2011 I don't know anything about sports. Nothing. But I thought you'd find this amusing (maybe not). My son runs a college bowl football pool every year. You pick which team you think will win then you assign a score. If your team wins, you get plus that score. If your team loses you get minus that score. When the games are over - highest score wins. About 27 people play, mostly men. Now they guys pour over their selections and debate, etc. I takes me about 30 seconds. Why? Because I pick blue states over red, northern states over southern and I never, ever pick a Texas team. When my son sees my selections he groans about what terrible picks I have and how this or that team will never win. Guess what? I won last year and this year. Not too shabby for a selection process. Go democrats!! (Just trying to interject a little levity - don't take it seriously)
ariscus99 1 Posted January 11, 2011 So that didn't work to well for yesterday's game then. BCS national champions, definitely from the south. I must say, I was rooting for Oregon, closer too home, and I've been to a couple of Ducks games. They were pretty high on my list of schools to play for, Univ. of Washington was #1, ASU #2, Oregon #3. Other than rooting for schools that I know people who attend, or I've been too, I don't care much for college football because of the whole BCS ranking nonsense, I think they should have a playoff series like all other sports do. What do you(and anyone else still brave enough to venture in the off topic discussion forum) think about the superbowl? No favorite team's? I always think it's funny when the person who doesn't know much nor care much about a sport wins a pool or some other betting game. At the station we do fantasy football league's, and the person who's won the last two years, is the female engineer who picks teams and starters based on how "cute" they are. Drives us nuts, especially when she wins, which is most of the time.

There is much smack down talk in their emails to all involved. I have never watched the superbowl or any football game - pro or college - ever. When my son was in second grade I used to buy him the NFL sweatsuit outfits based on the colors of the teams I liked. I remember liking the 49ers. Didn't they have like an old gold and red? His friend's mom liked it too and got him the jacket. He had Miami Dolphins - I liked their helmet. And I liked the Rams helmet, too. Other than that I had no interest. Maybe you guys should give up your methods and go with us ladies who use successful methods. LOL.
ariscus99 1 Posted January 11, 2011 49ers were definitely red and gold, the dolphins have somewhat feminine colors, teal and orange, the rams blue and gold, the old irish traditional color. Maybe we should change the way we pick, that Tom Brady is quite the hunk lol.
loserbob 11 Posted January 13, 2011 Steelers and Packers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Steelers winning of course. I think we need one for the big toe or something! Actually I hope its these two, my brother in law lives in Naperville Illinois and his wife is from Wisconsin so we're going to Chicago to watch the Superbowl if it ends up this way. Honestly though, I think it will be (it kills me to say this) Patriots vs Packers. The Pats just look too good and always end up ruining my season when we face them ihn the playoffs! We have to get past Baltimore which is always tough!

My family are huge Notre Dame fans so there is plenty of their sports clothing represented among everyone - and now the two new grandsons, too.
andrea0121 28 Posted January 14, 2011 Packers and the Patriots! Green bay for the win. (I'm a Packers fan obviously ) as long as the Bears get nowhere I'm a happy camper.
loserbob 11 Posted January 17, 2011 Steelers and Packers is looking good! Two passionate well respected teams/fanbases, it doesnt get any better. I have to admit, Rogers looks unstoppable, Brett who? Favre retiring a hundred times is the best thing that could have happened to the Packers! The problem is, they've always been my 2nd favorite teAM SO ITS GOING TO BE HARD TO HATE THEM. oH YAH, WE STILL HAVE TO GET PAST A TOUGH jETS TEAM AND THE pACKERS PAST THEIR RIVAL bEARS. (i BUMPED CAPLOCKS SORRY)
